Discussions around overcoming executive disfunction, distractibility, and... wait what was I doing?

everyone who constantly has a tab with music playing in their head has to say gm
They dont know this is a great game for ADHDers
Welcome my ADHD friends!

Let's get started on...
pov : you’re a professional athlete with adhd

before each quarter you must fill your whereabouts which is the addresses of where you will be training and competing on a slow glitchy website

every night you must update the website with where you’re sleeping including room number if you’re in a hotel

if you forget to do it 3 times in a year you get a 2-4 year ban from sport

(it makes me laugh how the reminders go from “dear athlete🥰 thanks” to a straight up threat)

only got 4h of sleep and i spent multiple hours doomscrolling today 😩
i used to always feel mad stressed about not doing something productive in my free time. like, I felt I was falling behind-behind what, I didn't even know, but something
i have been procrastinating on going to the gym + grocery store for far longer than it would have taken to complete both

sigh... 🫠
What’s the best thing you’ve done do optimize your “nervous system-environment fit”?

Wanted to share my reply to this:

As someone who has been dealing with ADHD/learning disabilities since grade 4 - from the bottom my heart, shut the fuck up.

My parents and teachers did everything in their power to help me when I needed it the most, and I would not trade that for anything.

I’m 25, have an amazing life partner, job, dog and everything I could ever wish for, all without the use of medication.

Saying it’s a quick solution is a cop-out when SO FUCKING many people with DIAGNOSED ADHD do not have access to them.

Let’s dive into some not so fun facts:

- Neglecting ADHD treatments causes a 19% increased risk of death.
- Adults who are not diagnosed with ADHD as children see a 30% increase in risk of anxiety and depression compared to their peers.
- Teens who have ADHD who are left untreated are 2x more likely to abuse substances.
- Young drivers who have untreated ADHD are 3x more likely to cause car accidents.
- People with ADHD are FIVE TIMES more likely to commit suicide
Good morning everyone

Who else is tired of the uninteresting to overwhelming pipeline?
I’m super curious!

do you resonate with this style of art too?

if not, what sort of art do you prefer?
I have been sharing what I'm learning about ADHD (and my own thriving mechanisms) with my son. Today is one of my remote days. My son (who is homeschooled) asked if I'd be willing to do body doubling to keep him on task today. Proud dad.

(as an aside, I originally posted AD&D instead of ADHD...shows where my mind is at).
I’ve definitely found this to be true
I've been trying a more extreme approach when I catch myself slipping:

5-minute pomodoro slots (5 on, 5 off)

Always achievable and often the "5 on" bleeds into 10. At the end of the day, 30 minutes of productive work every hour adds up and is a lot better than 30 minutes of work for the whole day
I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay
