Discussions about all types of music

“As a promotional format, playlists are just radio with a skip button, and the skip button reduces the programmer’s strict control, but also maybe-ironically increases their reach. Radio could only promote music in linear time. A playlist can offer more music than the listener has time, knowing that they will move through it in jumps”

CHROMA THE GREAT

“Chroma the Great is a character in the book, The Phantom Tollbooth, by Norton Juster. Chroma's job is to conduct the orchestra that colors every day; without him and the instruments, the world would have no color at all.”

Really interesting read! I never got to use Grokster, but it's crazy how that Supreme Court decision ended up reshaping digital copyright and the music industry. It's a good reminder of how one case can have a huge impact
