I’m a capitalist who cares about the environment. There doesn’t seem to be a perfect political party for me.
It may not feel this way right now, but the GTHA is headed for a severe housing shortage in the coming years. Below is Zonda Urban’s forecast for condominium completions. But my sense is that 2027-2028 will be lower than what is shown here.
The James at Yonge and Summerhill. What apartment rents do you think they’ll need at completion?
Future double-height indoor pool at One Delisle. Now getting ready for the first curtain wall to be installed.
Checked out Fort York on the weekend - a collection of 1812 buildings in the heart of the city.
In 1813 Americans captured the fort and burned and looted York (now Toronto) for 6 days before withdrawing. In 1814 The White House in Washington DC was burned in retaliation.
Quite remarkable how closely the War of 1812 parallels today’s trade war. Canadians dismissing the war as unnecessary but unwilling to give up their sovereignty. Americans desiring expansion and « quick wins » on multiple fronts.
In the end it was the poor who suffered the most during the war of 1812. I fear history will repeat itself.

With all this snow, Canada feels real once again. My car is completely buried, and that’s how it should be sometimes.
Trump throwing tantrums: “…meanwhile, this is a clear signal to everyone that America can’t be trusted.”

Tokyo is the largest metro region in the world and traffic flows better than in Toronto.
Went by the necropolis today as it was snowing. Ran into our old friend Jack.
They don’t make ‘em like they used to.

Y’all ready for the trade war?
If it sounds English or French it’s probably Canadian

Historically, it snows more in Feb than in Jan.
.... not looking forward to shovelling more :(

Now that's the sort of snow I was hoping to get during Christmas, but better late than never 😁

Old and new. On the right is Toronto’s old City Hall (1899), and to the left is new City Hall (1965).
I love ‘em both!
