For all those wondering what the inside of a skep looks like when itβs full of combβ¦
This type of beehive is called a skep.

Hives are in full protections mode because of the wasps, guard bees π at the ready!! πππ
I talked to the filler & told him about the shrinkflation on the first bottle. He told me f off.
I spun it a bit too hard which caused some of the soft wax on the frames to fall off but will strain out
Harvest day. Pulled 6 frames, scraped, spun; & now straining then bottling. Angry bees this time of year.

Just shaken these off of the bush they had congregated on, now they are flapping their wings and releasing a pheromone to show the other bees where to go!

The bees in the skep above need moving into the hive below. Iβve left this swarm in the skep (for too long) whilst sorting out a new hive, but now I have to take all of that comb out and move it into the hive below! ππππππ

Bees are very active today, bringing some pollen back too. Looks quite light in colour so could be rape seed? π
Girls coming home for the evening, still fairly warm outside so no need for honeybees to go in yet!

These 2 are guard bees π , theyβll check the ID of any incoming honeybees, and also check to see if theyβre drunk!!! π₯΄

Nothing like a nice cook drink on a hot day for the honey bees, important to have source of water close to the hives. Itβs important part of honey production! πππ
