"We must never forget to pray, and to ask God to remember us when He is arranging things, so that we too may feel safe and have no anxiety about what is going to happen"

Life is like an iced drink, and I always long for a cup during the winter chill.
Today's poem is from Borges.
💫
I have always secretly imagined that heaven should look like a library.
I slowly surveyed the empty space in a daze,
with my hesitant cane.

The only way out for women is to have their own career, not to get married
This is the painful truth that all married women have learned from marriage, and it is also a strong advice given by a mother who hopes her daughter will avoid detours.
In Maugham's "The Veil", the heroine experienced the collapse of love and marriage, and finally realized that women must rely on their own strength to walk in the world. She said: "I want to train my daughter, give her freedom and let her rely on her own strength to be independent in the world. I brought her into this world, loved her, and raised her up, not just to let a man provide her with food and shelter and support her for life because he really wants to sleep with her."

📖 "A Brief History of Misogyny"
This book analyzes Western philosophical concepts and religious culture, revealing the ancient prejudice and sin of misogyny that has almost become "natural"
In the society of the classical era, Athenian women were confined to their homes and were not considered part of the citizens; in the late Middle Ages, countless women were mistakenly burned alive as witches; in ancient China, beautiful women were also regarded as the existence of disasters to the country and the people. In all countries in the world, every society has a long history of slandering and demonizing women. Women are even the best scapegoats for men. To this day, social practices such as wearing veils, circumcision, and gender segregation and local customs are still regarded as "common sense" and exist. In some dark corners of seemingly civilized countries, misogyny is still prevalent.

Reading "Not Blown Away by the Wind" in December
2024 Reading Record
Mo Yan's "Not Blown Away by the Wind"
A collection of more than 40 essays, it can be said that it is easy to understand or it can be called a running account, and it is so intimate that it is probably the best book to read by Mo Yan. You can use your spare time to read it.
In this era of strong winds, it is not only about moving forward bravely that you can win. Being firmly rooted in the original place of life, not retreating, falling, sinking, and not being blown down by the wind is a kind of victory in itself. So whether you roll up or lie down, it's good not to be blown down by the wind. The nagging language expresses the love for life. The more difficult the moment, the more you need such a little dessert that goes straight to the heart.

No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting
I’ve never been a reader. Long story short, 2024 brought on the toughest months of my life and I found strength in BOOKS 📚
I recommend Oliver Burkeman’s work if you’re looking for something more out of your life experiences.
- Four Thousand Weeks
- The Antidote
- Meditations for Mortals

I completely understand, I was once like that and I didn’t care much for books.
Until a good friend recommended a few and I got hooked with the suspense and thrill of letting my imagination piece the words together until I couldn’t put down the book until I knew what the pages had to say next.
I have a very vivid and active imagination so much so after “the end” I always wonder what happens, “if this story was to develop further how would it?” Yunno just questions that keep my mind intrigued and busy.
I read mostly fiction but I’m getting into nonfiction more in recent times.

Think! Demographers estimate that at least half of all the human beings ever born are alive now, in this century. What a moment for the human soul! Characteristics drawn from the genetic pool have, in statistical probability, reconstituted all the best and all the worst of human life. It's all around us. Buddha and Lao-tse must be walking the earth somewhere. And Tiberius and Nero. Everything horrible, everything sublime, and things not imagined yet.
Here are 11 books I enjoyed reading in . The first is 20 years old, the last is not out yet (in English), and all are recommended:
