centaur - AI + traditional art

/centaur24

A place for mixed media crypto artists that use a mixture of AI and more traditional techniques. Not sure if you can post something in generative art or AI or what? Post it here.

I'm having a productive day. Taking my AI art and working on making it with my hands. Love doing this in reverse. Also made a cyanotype with oiled paper as a negative because my photo printer is out of ink. But mostly focusing on the embroidery. Why I decided to start with cheesecloth applique idk 😆
Going to do my best to tip GRND and Degen for quality posts using a hybrid workflow in here..
Sketch on paper with pen and brush tip marker > Midjourney --cref > CMYK conversion with DrawingBotV3 > Magnific..
I'm basically experimenting with different --cref weights here, seeing how my source image is balanced up against a big stack of image prompts.
I dropped this on zeroone. I used midjourney but the prompt included two well-known artists. One crypto, one trad. Can you guess which ones?
Good morning, playing around with --cref and my usual set of tools..
Well, I got my badge back, and my allowance went up slightly for the first time this season.

And tomorrow is my birthday..

I should make some art..
Generic crypto dude is generic..

Selfie > Midjourney CREF > DrawingBotV3

Almost a self portrait but not quite what I look like tbh..
Source photo > Midjourney > DrawingBotV3 > Magnific.
As an artist that uses machine learning tools I am treated by the US copyright services as having the same amount of artistic agency as an animal, essentially none.

People like me are actively hunted by groups of anti-AI zealots on every single major social media app, I am angry and alienated at the best of times.
This is what I've been saying.

You can't suppress 99% of your users content and expect them to be happy or continue to provide your app with free labor. People will get tired and leave eventually.
These pieces were created as a collaboration between my lab and a pigeon artist named Darwin. She's our star artist and an OG pigeon artist.
If you want a copy of the channel mascot it's available for 10K GRND!

Made with Midjourney, DrawingBotV3, and Magnific.
Made with Midjourney, One Lab, and Magnific..
OK, one last piece of theorizing before I just let this channel do it's thing.

Mastodon and Bluesky both offer account portability, you can move your account to another server or even host your own server if you're worried about being censored.

Farcaster allows client portability.

This explains the tradeoff when it comes to channel moderation.

It's half running your own subreddit, and half being able to curate your own Twitter tag. If you don't want to moderate you can just let the PB users do what they want in your channel.
The only thing weird about the most basic moderation tools for channels is that if I don't implement something fancier soon I have to like all my own posts.

Which feels very weird, very blue elephant. Lol.

The other more practical reason to be a centaur artist, an AI generated image without significant human modification can't currently be issued a copyright under US law as interpreted in this case.
Used my kid's first cyanotype as a base for a Midjourney blend over on the /blend-o-rama channel

This piece is sort of: AI prompted with lots of other art, most of it mine, then converted into an SVG file with DrawingBotV3, then upscaling that conversion with Magnific.

It lets me have a lot of control over the palette and line work.

Here's another explanation of the distinction between a cyborg and a centaur. It's about ideation and planning, initiative.

The human component is driving the combination if that makes sense.
