One observation wrt sketching is that contrast makes things look better. There should ideally be a big difference between the lightest and darkest shade in any given drawing, and generally high variance in shades throughout the entire thing
Looking at my drawings the ones im most pleased with all kinda have this feature, and the ones i like the least are lacking in it
