transcendental power ballads and ceremonial-grade medicine metal. follow along as I share the journey of releasing my first single this spring!

performing a song for the first time that you’ve spent 2.5 years and 100+ journal pages on feels so tender, so special, so freeing
lil preview of a shoot i did yesterday. haven’t gone thru selects yet but i’m soooo excited about it
spending my degen tip allowance for the rest of the week for your recommendations for the best high-impact books/videos/training resources for learning how to mix classic pop/rock music (not EDM, not modern pop)

David Gibson’s The Art of Mixing is a classic
kind of loving the comet in the header actually. need to find / generate one bc this is unlicensed as placeholder but yaaaa it's coming together
I’LL FOLLOW YOU DOOOOOOWN TILL THE SOUUUUUUND OF MY VOIIIIICEEE WILLLL HAUUAUAUAUANTTTT YOUUUUU
btw the controller is the brand new Nektar Panorama CS12. for $399 it’s pretty nice and tightly integrated with Logic, but it’s a little glitchy; we’ll see if I keep it beyond the Sweetwater return period
progress~~~

i hate the fill at the end but i like the direction this is going and it feels so much better to have real bass than a VST
pick kinda feels more natural and easier to get consistent - maybe for the first few tracks i’m releasing i’ll just play with a pick while i’m practicing with my fingers idk
luckily the types of bass lines i want are super simple, i’m just playing along to some favorites to get the feel in my hands
one of the best things i did to unblock my songwriting was to just consider my songs an extension of my conversations, and just turn the ✨heavy life stuff✨ i talk about with my friends into songs. narrowing the protagonist/audience of my lyrics to just consider them for one or two friends
