Billy is a loser and so is his book.

too much yapping not enough shipping.
good morning
apps i have active group chats in:
- warpcast
- instagram
- telegram
- whatsapp
- messenger
- line
- imessage

Each app has few to dozens of chats and I pruned them aggressively in December.

It's crazy when you consider the context switching.

I’d be proud to leave behind a set of articles like vitalik or paul graham has been building up.

A set of artifacts. Complete thoughts.

I can’t imagine linking to a collection of threads. It’s too ephemeral and shallow. Too stream of consciousness and disposable.

i'm gen-z. i'm a part of the last generation who's childhood somewhat sembled life without technology.

i barely use social media outside of farcaster. i'm the person who will open my friends group chat every once in a while and my friends are like "yoooo, he's back!"

the reason why farcaster is different from other places is its very easy to find little circles where i can really get to know someone. a lot of my close friends i met from being on here. in addition both of the jobs i've had after college i got from being here. farcaster is just generally speaking the best place at the moment to meet someone.

part of the reason this is (in my opinion) is because algos currently aren't done in a way to suck me in for as long as possible. I can just do my thing and dip. a huge reason I don't use other social medias is because of this.

sure, I've definitely wasted time looking at my warpcast feed, but the above has more than made up for it in my opinion.

why does reading / listening to a book almost never have regretted user minutes and social media does?

for me its because its easy to stop reading. if i can't pay attention or its boring its natural to stop. there's nothing pulling me or dragging me back, its an active process. with social its more passive: you have the world's most potent memetic content surfaced and even autoplayed to keep you going well past when you might have stopped.

the feeling of regretted life minutes is familiar to me, its the same feeling as losing more than you can afford gambling, having bad sex, or doing drugs.

it’s obvious that using my phone is directly correlated to regretted life minutes.

i really need to think about this more seriously.

I listen to a lot of books but reading one always feels better.

Ability to focus increases. The clarity of my internal monologue improves. Less jumping around.

Zero regretted user minutes.

if farcaster had an ad network i wouldn't have to ship all the time
10x dau a big milestone since it starts to approach 10k/mo in revenue for saas-esque tools [1].

the difference between a side project and sustainable gig for most.

1. about 2k users @ 5/mo ~ source: magic proprietary fermi math based on convos and present paying population.
one of the most reliable ways to start a competence confidence feedback loop is training to fight
noticed my own behavior: if I view a profile and see recent casts are mostly longer length text casts, higher chance i follow.

I made this 3 weeks ago in a few hours and forgot to even share it.

I don't plan to actively maintain or support it so if you want a feature fork or submit a pull request.

If you want real team casting solutions use @supercast or @herocast.
I give it 60 days before we get Twitter like “trends” / “moments”.

They’re the natural compliment to algo feeds.

supercast this
tbh i had a coffee this morning and my cast volume 10x'd and the spicyness and inaccuracy of my takes 1.5x'd.
proud to say all my takes are home grown and not groomed by backroom cabal ok.

the timeline isn't a stage, its the cutting room floor
indyhacking feels very similar to working in a company once you get customers.

> less generative; bit more grinding.
> can't switch ideas on a dime; more legacy, backward compat.
> harder to justify freestyling on other ideas when roi is calculable
a community focused farcaster client wouldn't let you cast without visiting the channel first.
