Curating a particular range of vibes.

An unexpected delight to see this tonight.
Yesterday, I went to the wedding of my 68 year-old friend. The second marriage for each of them.

Today, I wore the same suit to the funeral of our friend’s 8 week-old infant.

The old getting married, the young passing away.

It’s mixed up…but it’s not.

The juxtaposition has been unavoidable the past couple days: the fragility, brokenness, beauty, difficulty, and messiness of life.

It’s always happening and we go to great lengths to avoid or minimize our exposure. I think we’re missing something.
Every fall I grow out my beard. And every winter someone fails to recognize me.
> I think my issue is more on the product framing. Specifically the future that the product promises isn’t quite the future that I want.

This is it for me, as well. The technology itself is incredible. The potential unlock for all kinds of human potential is genuinely exciting.

And yet, while I am deeply optimistic, I don’t have the confidence of others who can limit their perspective to positive outcomes. The history of humanity is riddled with dysfunction and destruction and misappropriation of remarkable tools.

That’s not an argument for regulation or deceleration, by the way; both progress and abuse are inevitable.

Moreover, there is more to human flourishing than not doing jobs we don’t like. Some of the most deeply human activities include those kinds of activities. Again, this isn’t to say we shouldn’t have technology, rather we should orient ourselves with technology appropriately.

Robots can only solve so many human problems.
I have more patience in finding the right GIF response than I do with the drivers in front of me.

Preface each line with, "What do I need to...?" and this passage will never cease to spark something deep.

My absolute favorite line is that of breaking down & building up.
Pretty pleased to have inadvertently curated a feed that kept me out of view from this apparent memecoin drama.

Yesterday a friend was telling a group of us about the book Ella Minnow Pea which is "progressively lipogrammatic"—as the story proceeds, more and more letters of the alphabet are excluded from the characters' writing.

Naturally, I then excitedly told the group about /ouliposting and what a fun challenge it is.

The silence afterwards weighed a thousand tons.
Malls are wild.

Well I’m not a huge fan of these cathedrals of consumerism, the diversity of people, food, and commerce is pretty cool.

An absolutely perfect night for rich conversations and delicious local beers with great friends.

Good friendships are at the same time effortless and take work. They’re also beyond worth it.
A good friend's infant just passed away unexpectedly. Another's kid is having serious health issues. A mom dies in a car accident.

Brokenness is all around us. We shape our lives to hide it, but sometimes the fragments pile up and we can't avoid its harsh reality.

Don't take any of this life for granted.
This is, unfortunately, a dominant current underneath my chill exterior.

Working on it.
Latest color test results. A bit of variation between taking it a couple times, so I have more green than this.
