Goodbye sunshine coast! On the ferry headed to Vancouver Island.🌞🌊

Boating season is over and my beautiful trawler is now on the dry, all buttoned up, and put away for winter.

I have a couple of weeks of family visits before we head south to the dry desert for winter. 💚🌵
ITAP of another glorious west coast sunset, this time from Dusky Cove in the Broughton Archipelago Marine Park.

No matter how many sunsets I’ve seen, each one feels like a gift.
Bears can be surprisingly flexible!

gm and happy Friday everyone
I was dreaming of photographing the aurora tonight, but it is pretty cloudy here right now. So instead of dreams I have memories: this one from Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon, Iceland.

Out on the calm, foggy waters of the Broughton Archipelago, I feel like this is exactly where I’m meant to be.

There’s a quiet comfort in the stillness of the ocean, like it knows you belong out here as much as the mist and the tides.
Sometimes the dreary days bring the most peace.

The glassy calm water, no wind, and a dull, cloudy sky—it’s the kind of quiet that makes you stop and appreciate the stillness.

Not every day needs to be bright to be beautiful.

gm from bears and happy Monday!

This stunning black bear, from Simoom Sound, BC, was kind enough to let us hang around for a while, and I captured a whole series of photos as he foraged along the beach.

It was a super rare experience!
Our first full season of living aboard has come to an end, and what a season it was!

But no need to worry—I’ve still got plenty of photos and stories to share (I’m only halfway through processing them!).

Now, it’s time to switch gears, move back into the RV, and tuck the boat in for winter.

I feel so fortunate to have had this incredible experience. I've always wanted to live aboard and it was a dream come true.

This photo is from our anchorage in Simoom Sound, Broughton Archipelago.
gm from bears!

One of the best parts of boating in British Columbia is the super rare opportunity to photograph bears from the water. I spotted this beautiful black bear foraging along the beach in Simoom Sound,. He has fur so thick it shines. Look closely, and you’ll see his chest blaze!
Anchored in Kwatsi Bay, BC, surrounded by mountains and wild beauty. Nature’s not just a backdrop, it’s the main event.

There’s a whole world waiting for you beyond the shoreline—get outside and explore!
Hiiiiii!!

and gm from Simoom Sound, BC

This harbour seal is rather blonde! They are usually much more of a mottled grey colour.
Just the boat and a towering granite cliff, floating in water so green it’s like we’ve anchored in a gemstone.

Another super rare day living the dream!
Anchored in Kwatsi Bay, in the Broughton Archipelago, BC, the mountains loom high above and mist creeps through the valleys.

That's me down there on the left. My boat looks like a speck in all this raw, untamed beauty.

This is exactly why I love the wild—there's always something bigger than you.
This has to be one of my favourite views of this boating season. Looking up Tribune Channel in the Broughton Archipelago, British Columbia.

It's not over yet, we still have a few weeks of boating left!
gm! Hope everyone had a great long weekend.

Here's an aerial view from the Broughton Archipelago, where fog curls around the islands and the water’s so clear it feels like you could step right in (it's cold though!).

I love being an explorer and living an adventurous life. Being in the wild is full of surprises. It’s not just a view; it’s a way of life.
First b&w I've processed in awhile. It reminds me of the old days in the darkroom with the ilford hp5 and the smell of the developer, stop bath and fixer. The craft of making photos was a more tactile experience then. I miss it, but I love digital processing too. They are just different.
The Broughton Archipelago is a maze of tiny islets just begging to be explored.

You never know what’s around the bend—a hidden cove, a secret beach, or maybe a perfect spot to drop anchor and call home for the night.
