We're thrilled to begin announcing the speakers for our Decentralised Data Summit in Bangkok! 🇹🇭

Our first speaker is Kevin Jones, who works as a Developer Relations Engineer for @graphprotocol.

He is also a core team member of @buidlguidl 🏰, where he is focused on developer advocacy and education for Scaffold-ETH 🏗, a toolkit for building and prototyping dapps on Ethereum quickly.

Thanks to BRAINS Conference for providing Leo and the team with a platform to showcase their research on /ethereum data availability sampling (DAS).

This research was made possible through support from
@dannyryan, @dankrad, and the Ethereum Foundation (Grant FY22-0820).

For those interested, you can read the full paper here: https://arxiv.org/abs/2407.18085
We are thrilled to announce the release of our public Testnet and updated whitepaper!

This is an important step in Codex’s mission to protect and preserve the world’s data, free of censorship.

Our digital world creates 400M terabytes of data daily, and it is almost entirely centralised.

Data loss, data leaks and censorship are risks we face with existing storage solutions.

Not with Codex.

Codex champions censorship-resistant and durable data.

What does it take to bring that vision to life?

A lot of time and dedication to principled development.

Now, we are on the cusp of releasing our non-incentivised testnet and official whitepaper.

Get ready... ⌛️
There have been countless data breaches around the world resulting in the theft of medical records. 🏥

In June 2024, Russian hackers stole records covering 300 million patient interactions with the NHS.

As diagnostic medicine advances with AI and becomes more affordable, the need for secure, long-term storage of individual medical histories and genomic data becomes increasingly vital.

Codex’s advanced encryption and access control mechanisms ensure patient data is safe from malicious actors.

The protocol’s focus on longevity also means that this sensitive information can persist well beyond the lifespan of any single healthcare provider or system, potentially benefiting multiple generations while maintaining strict privacy controls.
Data availability is a misnomer in the crypto ecosystem. It only means there is proof data was published to the network, NOT that it will persist over time and remain accessible.

Codex will change that, by providing providing truly decentralised, durable, and persistent data storage for all.

We're almost ready to show you how we'll achieve it. 📖
We had some exciting developments for Codex in August, forming a partnership with @conduit, and attending events in Goa 🇮🇳 and Tokyo 🇯🇵!

80% of individuals surveyed by the European Commission for a whistleblowers protection report believed that fear of legal consequences was the primary reason for not reporting organisational wrongdoing. 🤐

Decentralised storage offers strong encryption and privacy features that protect the identity of whistleblowers. Native censorship-resistance also ensures that once documents are uploaded, they cannot be easily destroyed by powerful entities who seek to hide the truth.
It's been a great week so far at the Codex off-site in Lisbon! 🇵🇹

The team have come together from all over the world to collaborate and share ideas. The energy is ⚡️
Ethereum has processed billions of transactions, all contributing to the storage requirements for running a full node.

As the network grows, data bloat is becoming problematic. Danksharding will help, but archival storage has become critical.

We're back for another Community Call, bringing you the latest updates from the team, including details on our new partnership with

Most storage providers utilise data replication as a means to mitigate risk of data loss, however there's an alternative that Codex favours: erasure coding. 🧵 👇
As with any electronic device, storage components are subject to failures. Studies have shown that storage data centres observe an annual failure rate between 2% and 4%. That is to say that around 2% to 4% of the disks of a data centre suffer permanent failures every year.
We had a fantastic time at ETHTokyo! 🇯🇵

@hackyguru was part of a panel on bridging web2 data to web3, alongside
@yuroitaki.eth and moderated by Sammi Shu.

Thanks to /ethereum Japan for the opportunity, and to everyone who attended.
Codex is levelling up! 💪

We aim to help the Ethereum ecosystem embrace increased throughput and alleviate data bloat.

Our partnership with @conduit will help to assist rollups with archival, durable, and decentralised storage.

Find us in their marketplace; the success of your rollup depends on it! 😉
See you at ETH Tokyo! 🇯🇵

Catch @hackyguru for his panel on Day 2 to learn more about how Codex helps bridge web2 data to web3.
Scientific research often produces vast amounts of data that must be preserved for decades or centuries.

Codex offers a robust solution for this critical use case. Our focus on durability means that critical experimental parameters, methodologies, and contextual information can be stored alongside the data, ensuring that scientists can fully understand and replicate studies for generations to come.
Yesterday, Csaba gave a presentation on Codex and our research into Data Availability Sampling (DAS) at SBC2024 🇺🇸

If you'd like to chat to the team about what we found, learn about Codex or just say hi - be sure to find us during the final day today!
While half the team are busy in New York at SBC2024, Codex Contributor
@hackyguru is on the other side of the world at Hacker House Goa! 🇮🇳

He delivered a packed out presentation on the need for Codex, and the issues with existing centralised solutions.
It's been a great start to The Science of Blockchain Conference (SBC) 2024! 🇺🇸

Insightful, inspiring and productive 💪

Keep an eye out for the team at the event, we're here until the end and always happy to chat.
We'll be attending The Science of Blockchain Conference (SBC) 2024 in New York! 🇺🇸

@dryajov, @jessiebroke, Giuliano, Leo and Csaba will all be there for the event.

Reach out to us for a meeting if you're around - let’s catch up! 👋
July was a busy month for Codex, as we held multiple presentations, panels, and workshops during /ethcc, showcasing the team's work and the release of our public testnet!
