[Reflections on the Moxie update-3]

A more serious problem than the price of the token is that it stops newcomers coming in.

Rewards are a powerful motivator for participation in a project, and we need to find ways to encourage them.

I suggest the following ways to do this In addition to discouraging farming, this would also increase the pressure to buy Fan-tokens and increase engagement by pushing project participants towards higher Fan-token scores, which would increase the pressure to buy Fan-tokens and increase engagement.

In my opinion, this is necessary to maintain the project to some extent and to defend the price of the token.

In the case of A, I thought it would be adjusted when the project became more popular, but in the case of B, it's different.

Basically, the motivation for participating in a project is ‘profit’. In order to protect their profits, top participants are forced to limit interaction with lower or newer participants, which discourages new project participants from entering the project.

Newcomers can buy Fan-tokens to increase their score and join the groups of the top participants, but then the top participants will have built their own network to some extent, making it difficult for newcomers to enter (just like Power Badge did).

I appreciate your efforts to keep the project healthy and sustainable. Moxie's earning structure is a more complex process, but in simple terms, it can be divided into two parts as follows.

1. Asset growth through the buying and selling of Fan-tokens
2. Earning Moxie through interaction on Warpcast

The second of these structures allows project participants to expect a certain amount of return for their easy but steady efforts, which plays a big role in motivating participants, keeping the project active and attracting new participants.

However, this structure also encourages so-called ‘farming’ or ‘bot’ participants, which can be detrimental to the health of the project.

Also, due to the overwhelming participation in the project, the team may end up issuing more tokens than expected.

To rectify this, we believe the team has made the following patches

A. Reducing the percentage of rewards earned per interaction
B. Limiting the number of interactions

이 방법은, Farming을 막을 수 있을뿐더러, Fan-token의 구매와 프로젝트 참여자로 하여금 더 높은 파스코어를 지향하게 함으로써 Fan-token의 구매 압력을 높일 수 있고, 동시에 참여도를 높일 수 있을 것입니다.

신규 참여자는 Fan-token을 구매하여 자신의 스코어를 높이고, 상위 참여자의 그룹에 참여할 수도 있겠으나, 이럴 경우 상위 참여자들은 어느 정도 자신들만의 네트워크를 구축하여 신규진입이 어렵게 만들 것입니다. (일전의 Power Badge의 그것과 같이)

토큰의 가격보다 더 심각한 문제는 신규 유입이 중단되는 것입니다. 보상은 프로젝트 참여의 강력한 동기이며, 이를 고취시킬 수 있는 방법을 마련해야 합니다. 저는 다음과 같은 방법을 제안 드립니다. 위 B의 상호작용 횟수의 제한을 파스코어의 점수대에 따라 구분하여 점차 증가할 수 있게 하는 것입니다.

이와 같은 점을 바로 잡기 위해, 이번에 팀에서 아래와 같은 패치를 한 것으로 생각됩니다.

A. 상호작용 시 얻을 수 있는 보상의 비율 감소
B. 상호작용의 횟수 제한

제 생각에는 어느 정도 프로젝트의 유지와 토큰의 가격을 방어하기 위해서 필요한 조치라고 생각이 됩니다.

A의 경우 프로젝트가 어느 정도 유명해지면 조절이 될 것이라고 생각했으나, B의 경우는 사정이 다릅니다. 기본적으로 프로젝트 참여의 동기는 ‘수익’입니다. 상위 참여자는 그들의 수익을 지키기 위해 하위 혹은 신규 참여자에게 상호작용을 제한할 수밖에 없고, 이는 신규 프로젝트 참여자의 진입을 저해하게 됩니다.

Moxie의 Earning 구조는 더 복잡한 과정이 있지만 간단하게 생각하면 아래와 같이 두 가지로 구분할 수 있습니다.

1. Fan-token의 매매를 통한 자산의 증식
2. Warpcast의 상호작용을 통한 Moxie earning

이 중, 두 번째에 해당하는 구조는 프로젝트 참여자의 쉽지만 꾸준한 노력을 통해 어느 정도 많은 수익을 기대할 수 있게 합니다. 이것은 참여자들로 하여금 동기를 유발하여 프로젝트를 활성화시키고, 새로운 참여자를 끌어들이는데 큰 역할을 하게 됩니다.

하지만, 이와 같은 구조는 소위 ‘Farming’혹은 ‘bot’이라고 하는 프로젝트의 건전성을 해치는 참여자를 유발시키게 됩니다. 또한, 프로젝트 참여의 과열로 인해, 팀에서 예상했던 것보다 토큰 발행량이 많아졌을 수 있습니다.
