The Typhoon Vera Strikes Japan (1959)

On September 26, 1959, Typhoon Vera, one of the deadliest and most destructive typhoons in recorded history, made landfall in Japan. Known in Japan as the "Isewan Typhoon," Vera caused widespread devastation, particularly in the Ise Bay region. The storm claimed over 5,000 lives, displaced hundreds of thousands, and left entire towns and cities in ruins. The typhoon also triggered massive flooding and landslides, exacerbating the destruction. In response, Japan implemented significant reforms in disaster preparedness and urban planning, shaping the nation’s approach to dealing with natural disasters in the decades to follow. Vera remains a powerful symbol of the dangers posed by natural disasters.
This is a project I've been following for about 3 years. The type of innovation they're trying to make is mindblowing
Devve might be the new powerhouse in the coming years imo

The Death of James A. Garfield (1881)

On September 19, 1881, U.S. President James A. Garfield died from wounds inflicted by an assassin’s bullet. Garfield had been shot by Charles J. Guiteau on July 2, 1881, but the president did not immediately succumb to his injuries. Over the course of several months, his health worsened due to infection and poor medical care, leading to his death. Garfield’s assassination deeply shocked the nation, and his death led to increased efforts to reform civil service, culminating in the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act of 1883. His presidency, though brief, remains significant for its role in the reform of American politics.
