Some of DYWTFS is obviously autobiographical. I recall writing out a memoir as a gift, and the content of one or two years was just too difficult to really put on paper. I had resolved for a while to just shut down my feelings about that period - to keep moving - some kind of self-preservation instinct.

A lot of panels from this project just sort of develop from the previous question - each art piece is related to a sequence of thoughts. Also, the expressionist parts are meant to peek through and sort of accentuate the idea that it’s a combination of feelings and ideas.

One of the interesting things about this project was that it had a lot of feelings thrown into it that were neither sad nor happy. Encompassing that middle ground can be difficult.

There's one memory panel from DYWTFS that was created using a method @sabato was nice enough to explain.
I had to get a 3DO emulator and a sort of virtual interior design game they made for that and then slowly slowly use the controller simulator to place a room and record the camera looking around it.
It was all so tedious and engaging yet limited - I decided to only use that trick for one memory. It is a little bit like my actual IRL childhood room.
