What's your best memory involving a Rubik's cube???
Today is the 14th anniversary of my first ever solve of a Rubik’s cube!!!

This tiled-cube, my first ever cube, was gifted to me by my uncle who brought it from abroad in the year 1996.

14 years later, in 2010, I spent about 8 hours trying to solve it starting around 9:00pm and getting it solved closer to 5 am the next day.

This is the pic I clicked back then on a Nokia Express-music phone.

It was a big day in my life!!!

And I cherish it even today every time I teach someone new how to solve a cube. :)

There’s an official category for solving a Rubik’s Cube with your *feet*! Known as Feet Solving (formerly part of World Cube Association events), this unusual and challenging skill pushes cubers to use their toes for the entire solve, from turning the layers to executing algorithms.

Though the event was retired from official competitions in 2020, it was a popular category for years, with the world record set at an incredible 16.96 seconds by Daniel Rose-Levine in 2019.

Solving a cube with your feet demands extraordinary dexterity and control, showcasing the versatility of speedcubing as a sport.

Solving a Rubik’s Cube with one hand is another challenging and impressive skill in the world of speedcubing! One-Handed solving, often abbreviated as OH, requires not only speed and accuracy but also a high degree of finger dexterity and control.

Competitors in the one-handed category must solve the cube using only one hand from start to finish, which means all the moves, turns, and algorithms have to be executed with just a single hand. This unique challenge forces cubers to adapt their techniques, as the standard two-handed algorithms often need to be modified to be performed efficiently with one hand.

The previous world record for a one-handed solve is an astonishing 6.20 seconds, set by Max Park in 2022.

#FlashbackFriday to 1979 when the Rubik's Cube was demonstrated at a variety of international toy fairs, including London, Paris and New York.

In September 1979, the puzzle was spotted in Nuremberg by toy specialist Tom Kremer, who could immediately see the power and potential of the Cube.

Tom Kremer's vision was to commercialize the Cube and sell it to the world; he negotiates and signs a worldwide distribution license!

And there began the widespread of Rubik’s cube across the globe!

Solving a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded is one of the most impressive feats in the world of speedcubing!

This method, known as Blindfold Cubing or BLD, requires not just the ability to solve the cube but also incredible memory and spatial visualization skills.

To solve the cube blindfolded, cubers first memorize the positions of the pieces during an "inspection" phase, which typically lasts a couple of minutes.
Then, they put on a blindfold and solve the cube entirely from memory using a series of algorithms that correspond to the positions they memorized.

The video shown is one of the former World Records. This includes both the memorization and solving time, showcasing the incredible mental agility and precision required for this method.
