"It’s widely believed that human meat doesn’t taste good, but they only spread that rumor because it’s a taboo that can’t be crossed."

Issei Sagawa was a minor celebrity in his native Japan. He wrote some 20 books, appeared on talk shows and made money on the lecture circuit. He even worked as a food critic for a Japanese magazine. And all of his fame comes from his one horrific crime β€” the killing, dismembering, and cannibalization of a woman named RenΓ©e Hartevelt in Paris in 1981.

To the day he died, decades after he escaped justice on a technicality, he talked openly of his overwhelming urges to eat "young, beautiful women"
Fascinating story. Last weekend I saw an old man walking around my yard in the village.

I was just rowing my boat nearby, and approached the shore to ask him what is his business and if he was looking for someone

He replied that he is looking for a view and a good spot to write his new art piece, and added that he's a brother of a local villager (my neighbour).

Back home I googled who he is by his second name, and blown away 🀯. Turned out he is 83yo and respected trad artist. His works could be even found in the collection of Tretyakovskaya Gallery in Moscow.

Yesterday I went to local museum in my town (where the artist lives now) and found his works there

Now I'm so inspired I want to buy artist setup and go plein air.

Once again I realised how we tend to underestimate occasional encounters with strangers.

watching the Joseph Campbell interviews - they're free from the library on kanopy
More and more I find myself using a specific set of emojis to tell my /story

I love what @griff did to put a comicbook-like frame together!

Gives a solid overview of the world he's been building in /theendlingsaga ✨

Nice blend of art and story ✨

Will you go down the rabbit hole πŸ‘€ ?

One of my favourite things about onchain art is the dedication to story that artists enable through their curations ⛰️

By building cohesive collections that are linked through time, we’re able to see the bigger picture of the artist and their journey ✨

Great work @lucaonadventure.eth !
Such a wild /story ! I love these little photo +anecdotes

A picture may say 1000 words, but a few of your own helps to build out the bigger pictures 🌈
The power of myth and story ✨ πŸ“š
Such a cool /story behind this shot, helping document the research and safety of seismologists

Trying something a bit different with today’s newsletter ✨

As much as I love deep tech dives and predicting the future, it’s important to step back and take time to find flow 🌊

Especially on vacation 😌

History is what enables us to learn from the wisdom of those who came before us

Meditating on what it means to live in the modern world is humbling and really helps to put things into perspective.

Always happy when my photography /story can inspire others to learn ✨

I love seeing more artists using /words to share their /story
A picture is worth 1000 words (or more imo), but adding your own natural written expression can help augment the impact of the images πŸ–ΌοΈ

I also encourage creators/builders to start their own channels, (e.g., /cal 😊) it simplifies everything ✨
A quote from Dune, a favourite /story of mine.

I recently reread this series and it helped give me incredible long-term perspective of the human species, and how much /mindfulness plays a role in optimal human experience 🧠✨
Love learning more of the hi /story of astronomy and our understanding of space ✨
I love seeing photographers share the /story behind their experiences.

While a picture may be worth 1000 words, tying the images together with context deepens the reader/viewer's understanding of the moment and why the photographer felt such a connection with their subject.

Beautifully done @lucaonadventure.eth ✨
I loved watching this /story unfold today ✨

I found it very inspiring and motivating to see the formation of /outcasts

Also, love the book inclusion πŸ“š
