Working on a group chat app. Sneak peek
The most interesting & important conversations are happening in mid-size group chats, not on public social networks.
But group chat apps aren’t optimized for consumption. Imagine if Twitter made you read every single tweet chronologically and sent you a notification everytime someone tweeted and you had little information on who’s talking or why you should care. And there was no way to mute or follow people/topics or find other chats that might be a fit based on your interest/ability to contribute.
Something new will fill the gap.

Elon didn’t start a new social network, he took over Twitter. You don’t need to start a new city, you can take over existing ones by just moving there en masse and voting for your candidates. You don’t even need 44b. This is hard to do, but it’s easier than moving all the intellectual capital out of SF. Network effects are hard to disrupt.

Why are there so many leftists within crypto? As Solana says in his bankless episode, crypto disintermediates and reduces the power of the state. I get why libertarians and rightists like crypto, but why leftists? Leftists should want state power to enact leftist policy goals if they care about leftist outcomes.
When people talk about threat to democracy or institutions, what they mean is threat to democrats or democratically run institutions.
When democrats storm the White House or try to jail their political opponent or stage a coup on their own candidate, this is good for democracy because it serves the democrat party.

Like this cast if you’d want to be a fly on the wall of the moment of zen group chat? I’m building something that would enable this type of interaction (whether I can rally the troops, as always, is TBD <3)

I want you to put the word out there that we back up
Might have to change the name of the whole podcast network https://x.com/TheAnnaGat/status/1804620695223300578
Every podcast trio is fighting a battle you know nothing about
Just recorded with a France expert on what the hell is going on in France right now.
Great season. Finals next year
Interviewing Jonathan Haidt today in case anyone has a question we should ask him — @Tyler Cowen’s interview with him was excellent
Devastating 💔
Writing a post on effective altruism
We’re just built different. We just want it more.
How has MOZ influenced your world view, if at all? On politics, economics, religion, crypto, anything?
I was a popular jock in high school (Twitter) but now I have to reinvent myself in college (Warpcast). I am now a lowbie reply-guy to the nerds I ignored in high school. Life comes at you fast.
