We’re interviewing SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce next week—what should we ask her?

@alexpopovic @coinguide
One of the most common mistakes I still see newcomers making?

Sending tokens to/from the wrong network. You’d think our UX would be better by now but… no. It’s still a surprisingly easy way to lose funds.

Who is fixing this?
The Rise Up Morning show reached almost 25k viewers this week and our hosts generated hundreds of thousands of impressions with vertical video!

Audience members at all levels of experience—most of whom are curious, skeptical, or investing in crypto—join us to learn how to come (truly, safely) onchain. And the reviews are clear, we have the most trusted channel on Tiktok:

“Super knowledgeable, in-depth, and honest help” - Wally N.

“Informative and educational, particularly for beginners in crypto. It’s my go-to for approachable answers to any question.” - Chris S.

“Packed with Value” - Ryan F.

We stream M-Th. morning and Wednesday nights on Tiktok, and you can find the link to catch all the replays on YouTube, join our Discord community, or our newsletter (all free!) at https://theriseupmorningshow.com

PS, if you’re a web3 brand trying to improve your credibility or reach real people (like, not just crypto twitter folks) DM me, we can help.
Insights from this week in vertical video:

“How do I grow a following on social media?”

One of the most valuable, consistent pieces of advice I hear from well-known, well-loved creators is: you need brutally honest feedback from your colleagues & community.

Not all feedback is created equal: if you want to grow, you need to hear from creators whose values are aligned w/yours, whose work reflects quality you admire.

Do this by creating community in a “third place” where folks hang out. If you’re not sure where to start, I recommend finding a creator you love, then showing up to regularly add value in their comments section.

I’m grateful to my colleagues @coinguide & @alexpopovic—for the time they make each week for feedback—to the A-Team at Faceless Labs, & the /rise-up community for all they’ve done to support my journey.

If you’re just getting started or you have questions about how to scale (especially in vertical video), let me know! I’m happy to help.

@thirdweb how do I put the link to the shirt in a frame? @myk got the how-to for me?
Find a niche and own it: insights from another week in vertical video.

Scott Galloway says that, for creators, the greatest opportunities are on the smallest screens; and that the most successful creators “own” their niche.

Let me demonstrate how to apply this with our example at /rise-up: our goal is to become the most-trusted, live, crypto educational program on TikTok—super niche.

We’ve been creating for years, but since this has become our focus, we’re really making progress.

The Rise Up Morning Show and Rise Up After Dark are being discovered by thousands of viewers across the world, in different time slots, each week.

Testimonials repeatedly thank us for being clear, honest, inclusive, and committed to no-hype education.

We’re not special, you can do this too—just focus and commit, then refine by doubling down on what works.

Highlights from a week of creating onchain! This week I…

🤳Continued to create content with my colleages @alexpopovic & @coinguide for the /rise-up community

👨‍🏫Expanded our live educational offerings for learners at all levels

☕️ Had fruitful discussions with two great coffee brands about coming onchain this autumn

We’re working to tell a better story about what blockchain is, why it matters, and how everyday people can get involved—join us!

Onchain summer is coming to an end

Onchain autumn is just beginning

Can’t stop won’t stop bringing people onchain
Views are down but engagement is up: insights from another week building /rise-up

Our show is the top of a deep funnel where people move from passive viewership -> engaged learner in the context of a trusted community with:

-Free education
-Live classes
-Members at all levels of experience

2️⃣ highlights:

☝️We helped a member find $1500 she’d lost onchain

✌️ This testimony from our oldest member, Carol (82):

“I have never seen such complementary individuals as the three of you... and I've seen a lot in 80 years! Your respect for each other and different perspectives are incredible. Your show is the best and it's my favorite crypto show."

The future is onchain, but everyday people need trustworthy touchppoints and real relationships to help them avoid pitfalls on the journey.

If you’re looking for a community or want to make a difference, we’ve got a great place to start—all that’s missing is you! 🫵

This week on my platform I continued to build the Rise Up community with my colleagues Alex and Will.

Beyond our shows, in my own vertical video I discussed Onchain Summer, started a glossary of helpful terms for newcomers onchain, helped community members navigate decentralized social media, and how to avoid common scams in the crypto space.

Here are the numbers for a week in review
It was lucky I happened to be on Warpcast yesterday, and lucky the algorithm chose to serve me this post while the auction was still live.

When I saw the image attached, I knew I had to have it.

I’m minting a lot more these days, but this is the first planned NFT purchase I’ve made since @cryptothegame — I mean, I bought a few vrbs tokens but I was waiting to buy a proper vrb until one that spoke to me came along, and this was it. @pumpy thank you for your work!

I’m writing this to say that if you like vrbs, don’t be like me. If you’re on Warpcast everyday, make sure you turn notifications on or scroll by the @vrbs channel to see if your perfect vrb is up for auction. There’s a new one everyday and one of them will speak to you like this one spoke to me—and I’ll tell ya, it woulda been a real shame to miss!

While you wait for your perfect vrb to come up at auction, you can still support the DAO. Buy vrbs tokens and get involved now at vrbs.build
Do you avoid frames that require you to like/follow/share?

If so, what would it take before you’d do it?
Metrics and insights from another week of /rise-up—helpful media for learners at all levels of experience.

- We continue to reach almost 20k people with our live Tiktok morning show (image reflects my share)
- This week’s featured event “Rise Up After Dark” reached another 2k at a new time slot
- Our free newsletter and Discord community membership continue to grow almost 10% weekly
- YouTube following continues to grow 1-2%
- Our hosts generated ~400k impressions on TikTok vertical videos

Our goals are to continue growing the right sponsorship relationships, increase our live/recorded educational offerings, and deepen the value of community membership, in order to scale our live-streaming capacity and broadcast to multiple platforms.

One challenge we’re encountering is reaching vulnerable people (especially senior citizens) with the right messaging about safety and security—many of them need more support to be safe online and onchain.

Insights and metrics from another week of vertical video—the “onchain” aspect of onchain solutions is less exciting for most users than the other benefits they’re barred from now.

Whether you’re on TikTok or CNN, talking about onchain summer or coffee days will reach less people than “a simple way to support small businesses” or “own what’s yours online.”

Lead with this — seeking to answer your viewer’s question: “what’s in it for me?” — using onchain examples/terminology only as necessary, where they truly add value. If the content is engaging, everything else will follow.
Share this video with your friends on TikTok to help spread awareness about @base coffee days and onchain summer before it’s over!

One for me and one for /rise-up! Thanks @base 🙏
Guess how much money we could save every year if we eliminated overdraft fees?

(It’s higher than you think.)

Here’s how crypto, @coinbasewallet, and coffee are proving the solution this Onchain Summer

I’d love to learn your thoughts about bringing the world onchain in the comments below, on TikTok, or @drakula (mint on @zora)
Story time: always keep chocolate on your desk
Last week on the /rise-up Morning Show we reached ~14k live viewers with educational content about how our online world (and, increasingly, our offline world) is moving onchain.

If you’re trying to reach learners at all levels of experience like us, I recommend starting with a wide funnel — public, recurring, and simple — on a familiar platform like TikTok, Facebook, or YouTube. Then scale in ways that are easy for you, which deepen the relationship.

If we want to bring a billion people onchain it starts with going to them wherever they are, without paywalls, if possible.

For us, this means:

-Four livestreams/week
-Stream recordings > YouTube
-Weekly newsletter summaries, links, etc.
-A Discord server “where the show lives 24/7”

From there we can introduce people to onchain tools—POAP or Warpcast—because we have a real relationship.

More stats on our hosts’ individual progress in the comments, and more thoughts from the journey next week.

Thanks everyone. Stay based and Rise Up✊🔥
Another week in review of short-form video.

For those who don’t know, I post content (mostly on TikTok) breaking down big ideas — especially about blockchain — so anyone can understand them and join a discussion.

Metrics on my personal content were down from last week, but I felt good about the content I got to share, mostly around the theme of onchain ownership, including this stitch of a Coinbase video:

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTN7SCxbq/

/rise-up continues to be well attended—we reached almost 20k people with answers to questions like “how can tokens be valuable?”
