I wish there were an easy way to ask all 700k registered FC accounts what incentivized them to join. If the main pull is airdrops and speculation, you’ll naturally attract a lot of spam, which is exactly what happened. It will be interesting to see the types of communities that form in this environment.
The main issue with “reply to join” or “request membership” models is that many of the users who respond are spammers. As a channel owner, it quickly becomes overwhelming to identify good candidates, essentially turning you into a spam filter or gatekeeper.

It’s kinda wack that channel owners get attacked when we don't invite or remove someone from a channel. The frustration should be directed at the Warpcast team, they’re the ones who changed how channels work. Im here to build community, I don't control the protocol or the opinionated client
It’s finally happening. People are mad at me because of a decision Merkle made about how channels should work. The transition to cozy corners isn’t going smoothly when users are upset about losing access to spaces they used to freely join and participate in.
Big props to whoever got Reason, Cozz, and Buddy together for this collab. All three of these guys are sick on the mic!
