I write about decentralised social networks at www.fediversereport.com
1455 Follower 133 Following
1 million monthly active users for all platforms that use activitypub (the fediverse
800k monthly active users for Mastodon, which is by far the biggest software in the network

Does anyone else have problems with my wifi?
The news of Bluesky and the fediverse of the last 2 weeks, summarised with the most relevant points for Farcaster:

- Meta degrades their fediverse integration, delaying posts by 15 mins before they get send over to the rest of the fediverse
- Swiss government shuts down their mastodon server due to lack of engagement
- A new foundation for the fediverse launches. It is supported by quite some prominent organisations in the fediverse, including Meta. Many independent fedi developers are pretty pissed off about this however, due to Meta's participation
- the temporary DID system for Bluesky is now permanent as DID:Public Ledger of Credentials, paving the way for the next step in decentralised identity management on atproto

is there a feed that displays the top posts of the network of the last 7 days (or 24h)?

this dashboard lists the top posts, but if I want to read them I have to open them individually. I want to browse them as a feed. Is that available somewhere?

one of the coolest uses of Frames Ive seen so far
The highlights of this weeks news of Bluesky and the fediverse:

- Bluesky now has 10 million accounts, and around 5.5m mau
- Most growth comes from the Brazilian community after Brazil banned X (around 4m)
- Mozilla.social, a mastodon server by mozilla shuts down after it never left closed beta
- Mastodon gets a small grant to start building a Relay and Discovery system for the network
- Bluesky now has video
- A major viral moment (a politician hitting another with a chair during a tv debate) shows that the main brazilian community is happening on bluesky, but not on Threads

its hard not to read it as the EC trying to pick a fight with Meta via the DMA, and that Meta has won and the EC has lost

dont see how any app trying to get whatsapp interop will deal with the hard req of only allowing users in the EEA

having identity tied to server is such a big problem with mastodon/activitypub/fediverse
think openai is onto something with o1 here
/AI
how on earth do all these ai bros function if they cannot understand the very core parts of what it means to be human

in genuinely dont get it
great spot my friend
yo @dwr.eth since were talking about different decentralised protocols, this might interest you as well:

Threads' fediverse integration has very low uptake, the mastodon.social server (which has a quarter of total mau in the entire activitypub world) has connected with 15k federated threads accounts
turns out i asked my parents to babysit my carpet

Bluesky is a brazilian network now, almost 80% of posts are in brazilian portuguse. its also the most active network for president lula, he gets significantly more engagement there than on threads (which has 10x follows)

things need to settle down again to give a clear answer how this impacts user and dev culture
my jaded view that i published last week, that i stand by:

current state:

- you can follow threads accounts from mastodon (and other fedi platforms) if they have fediverse sharing turned on
- if you reply/like from mastodon this shows up again in threads
- you cannot follow mastodon accounts from your threads account
- non-reply posts from mastodon dont show up in threads
i think all 4 protocols have not cracked channels/custom feeds/communities yet, but i think farcaster is the closest to it so far, especially combined with automod
well yes this was wrong haha
I think that someone will announce an onlyfans clone on farcaster within the next 3 months
Hey all!

I write about decentralised social networks, mainly focusing on the fediverse with ActivityPub, as well as Bluesky. Taking a look at what's happening over here.

Thinking of writing about the cultural differences between Nostr and Farcaster, think there is interest in that?
