Wild birds of South Africa. This is a human setting at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, which is also a World Heritage Site. This botanical garden is home to over 9,000 species of plants, 70% of which are endemic to South Africa. The southern golden-bellied sunbird and the bright leucospermum flowers are both endemic to this country...
The sunbird is a member of the sparrow family with a body length of about 12 centimeters. They live by sucking nectar from flowers like hummingbirds. As you can see, the male has an elegant appearance with metallic green and a bright red belt, but the female has a plain appearance with a brownish hue.

Martial eagles hunt lion cubs for lunch in Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve.

In this photo, a juvenile martial eagle snatches a three-week-old lion cub. No one saw the bird kill the cub. Based on the fledgling eagle’s behavior, researchers suspect that an adult female gave the cub to the fledgling.

A family of two-scaled cormorants in the nest protects these chicks from the rain. Cormorants often nest in colonies around the shore, on trees, islets or cliffs. They are coastal rather than oceanic birds, and some have colonised inland waters.

Cormorants are medium-to-large birds, with body weight in the range of 0.35–5 kilograms (0.77–11.02 lb) and wing span of 60–100 centimetres (24–39 in). The majority of species have dark feathers. The bill is long, thin and hooked. Their feet have webbing between all four toes. All species are fish-eaters, catching the prey by diving from the surface. They are excellent divers, and under water they propel themselves with their feet with help from their wings; some cormorant species have been found to dive as deep as 45 metres (150 ft). They have relatively short wings due to their need for economical movement underwater, and consequently have among the highest flight costs of any flying bird.

At first glance, it may seem like an ordinary swamp, but the Okavango Delta is unique . Unlike most river deltas, the Okavango does not flow into any sea or ocean, but instead flows into open savannah. This elephant, like almost every African animal you can imagine, owes its existence to this wetland, but it is not perennial. The swamp that originally formed the delta fills with water only once a year, between March and July, when seasonal rains from the highlands of Angola descend more than a kilometer to flood the arid savannah of northwest Botswana.

Today, let's learn about Saiga,is a species of antelope characterized by a prominent feature pair of closely spaced, bloated nostrils directed downward.

Where does the saiga live?

Native to Eurasia, the saiga is an animal well adapted to the harsh life in the dry to semi-arid steppes of Central Asia where it plays a major ecological role (umbrella species) in particular through its impact on the vegetation of its biotope. It is now found in Mongolia, Russia and Kazakhstan. In December 2023, the global population of saiga antelopes was estimated at 922,600 to 988,500 mature individuals.

HIP-PO-PO-TAMUS-ES are large semiaquatic mammalslnative to sub-Saharan Africa. After elephants and rhinoceroses, the hippos are the next largest land mammal.

Despite their physical resemblance to pigs and other terrestrial even-toed ungulates, the closest living relatives of the hippopotamids are cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpoises, etc.).

Hippos are recognisable for their barrel-shaped torsos, wide-opening mouths with large canine tusks, nearly hairless bodies, pillar-like legs, and large size: adults average 1,500 kg (3,300 lb) for bulls (males) and 1,300 kg (2,900 lb) for cows (females). Despite its stocky shape and short legs, it is capable of running 30 km/h (19 mph) over short distances.

Arsenal played about a third of this match in second gear. It wasn't until Soton scored tht wee played as a team.
It's obvious that Jesus is out of sort and completely short of confidence. Aside that, Party put on a decent makeshift performance at RB. It was a great second half for B. Saka as he had a role to play in the 3 goals scored (2 assists and a goal for himself).

The photo itself was taken during a photo trip to Greece on the shores of Lake Kerkini, where a large population of these spectacular birds winters. On the last day of the expedition, the morning was cloudy, with a light fog, and the surface of the lake was not disturbed by the slightest breeze. The pelicans landing near our boat were reflected from time to time in the water surface as in a mirror. The first attempts to capture this point of view were unsuccessful. As there was little light, only the panning shot allowed us to catch a "pointy" bird in the right pose a split second before it disturbed the perfectly flat surface of the lake.
