/cal120

Learning & building in public✨ My newsletter has two parts: Recalibrating 🧭 (self-alignment) & Worldbuilding 🌍 (how to build) Feel free to ACA (ask cal anything) in this channel and I’ll do my best to answer 🫡

very much looking forward to diving into the State of Crypto 👀
FYI, been seeing questions on reach/distribution, so I hope this helps:
Everything just keeps getting more and more permissionlessly seamless ✨
Great update for channel mods to invite people to your channel ✨
My first AI piece on /zora ✨ representing the digital garden & second brain concepts discussed in my new newsletter segment: Cultivating (linked below)

I hope you like it!

was not expecting this! The first time one of my casts has been trending and it was a general hello to the home feed ✨

nice hearing from so many of you!
On why channel requests are not a thing:

Makes sense to me, I think the hashtag model made spraying content across farcaster the norm, whereas I personally prefer a more curated experience of mindfully higher signal casting into communities ✨
👀 the beginning of completely customized membership requirements with @icebreaker
And here, we, go ✨

Looking forward to exploring the new channel features for the channels I run 😌
Taking this suggestion into account for my channels ✨

My plan is to find balance with varying levels of access based on the style of the channel

Could even be subscribing on @paragraph, the “human” attestation on @icebreaker, tokengating with @moxie.eth or @hypersub, art ownership on @zora or @manifoldxyz
I have really been appreciating @samuellhuber.eth’s answers/help/resources lately! Especially related to frames & mini-apps

The sentiment in this piece by @jaredhecht.eth is so real. Back in the day there was just one online place where we hung out, until Facebook basically re-wrote the game. Maybe it's a function of getting older and having more responsibilities, but the concept of the 'internet home' seems to have disappeared. MSN Messenger, Hi5, Facebook and then Twitter were vital but often just one at a time.

Now it's a fragmented mess, and despite Discord's best efforts to be the MSN messenger of today, there's a secret sauce missing. User experiences are objectively better, but I feel less psyched to use these services that I used to. Are algo-driven feeds not sparking the same level of joy? Maybe that secret sauce was the luxury of being online 24x7, and I'm chasing the dragon.

Can Farcaster become this new platform? What needs to be done to bring it there? And what sort of things would you like to see put in place to make it more comfortable?
I'm looking for your help! 🫡
I am very much thinking about how to moderate my channels with the change tomorrow. Each channel will have a slight different vibe, and different membership requirements (in progress). The main ones I'm looking at:
/cal
/mindfulness
/story
/wander

I think we're at a unique point in @farcaster, where we have the ability to curate communities and the vibe new people experience here.

What are you looking forward to most about the new channel paradigm? If you have questions, feel free to let me know!
