I was fortunate to get away from the floods in the forest.

I wasn't sure what was going on last Thursday afternoon but I knew it wasn't good.

I woke up this morning in Ping River and quickly realized that if I didn't leave my hotel this afternoon I might be stuck for a few days without electricity.

The front entrance was chest high water making it too hard to get out with personal items intact. Studying the surroundings paid off and I led all who were willing out the back alley using my shortcut discovered yesterday.

I really knew it was time to go when I saw Alt_Pingriver coworking evacuating. The good news is everything should drain out in a few days according to local news reports and everything should be back and running.

I rode out part of the flood tonight with Nok and an entire pot of her great matcha. She saw that I didn't bring my glass to-go container so she lent her tiffin box.

I'm in awe of how every local I've met has been positive and calm during record worst floods in Ping River. 🙏🏻

Chiang Mai News in English on Facebook is a good real time resource to follow on the floods. [1]

I moved hotels twice this morning as I'm a few streets away from Ping River. Last night I was up until 4 am watching the street to see if I should leave. This afternoon the hotel informed me I need to move buildings as soon as possible.

Nimman is completely fine for most people that are heading there this month. 🙏🏻

I think you'll enjoy the fast paced builder culture in this small and energetic town. From my 2 months here I am impressed with the range of people I've met from all countries, ages, and work experience.

I think most of the @edgecity EC crypto events will start Nov 3 including tentative programming with Vitalik, Justin Drake, Venkatesh Rao, Tim Beiko, Will Papper, etc. [1] Also, there will be a public hackathon starting Nov 2.
