( 🧵 1/4 ) Neuroscientist’s like Baroness Susan Greenfield 🧠 say that good quality sleep in very important for health and I need to hit the pillow early tonight, but the streak must go on! So, I've enlisted AI to whip up a quick bedtime story.
Oh, and guess what? I recently got my hands on a hardback copy of Greenfield, S. (2011). You & Me: The Neuroscience of Identity. Notting Hill Editions. Yay 😀 !

📚 Once upon a time, deep inside your head, lived a little kingdom called Brainland. 🧠 The citizens of this magical land worked very hard every day, making sure you could think, learn, laugh, and remember. But just like the rest of us, the busy little neurons and cells in Brainland needed a break. Every night, when the world around you grew quiet, Brainland began a special bedtime routine that helped keep everything running smoothly. /cryptosapiens 🧠

Opinion column:

Above or below the fold

Above the Fold:

In a printed newspaper, this refers to the content that is visible on the top half of the front page, above the physical fold in the paper.

Below the Fold

This refers to the content that appears below the fold in a printed newspaper, meaning the reader has to unfold the paper to see it.
In digital terms, "below the fold" refers to the content that is only visible once the user scrolls down the page. While still important, this content is less immediately accessible and might not grab as much attention as what’s above the fold.

With our newly reorganised Shopping List for Identity:

1. Consciousness
2. Mind
3. Roles
4. Values - Wisdom & Beliefs

We move onto point 4 and how Values, Wisdom & Beliefs Shape Identity 🌿✨

Professor Susan Greenfield believes that identity is shaped by the brain’s plasticity 🧠, its ability to change based on experiences.

Values, according to Greenfield, are deeply rooted in neural pathways and act as guiding principles, often from a very young age, helping us to make decisions and navigate the world. These values, once established, are difficult to change, as they become embedded in the brain’s reward systems.

As we gather knowledge and experience, this information is transformed into wisdom. Wisdom is the brain’s ability to synthesise past experiences, offering clarity and insight into life’s complexities. 🌱

Import NFT from Metamask (using the contract address and token ID ) and send NFT from Coinbase wallet don't appear to work with the Hypersub NFT contract, so the easy solution was to -> I just minted an onchain subscription on Hypersub! It's a bargain price in any case. 🧠 🤣

🚨 Oops! I made a human (Homo sapien) error! I accidentally jumped ahead to point 4 on our Neurophysiological Shopping List for Identity – Roles. 😅

🧠 According to Professor Susan Greenfield, people experience an 'identity crisis, not a mind crisis.' The term 'identity crisis' was originally coined by Erik Erikson.

📚 Erik Homburger Erikson (born Erik Salomonsen) was a Swedish-American psychologist and psychoanalyst born in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1902.
The middle name, Homburger, came from Erik's step-father, while Erikson was a name that Erik created. This link
https://www.encyclopedia.com/people/medicine/psychology-and-psychiatry-biographies/erik-erikson explores the personal and biographical factors that contributed to Erikson's own 'identity crisis.'
