I can’t feel my legs anymore but it was worth it. After all these magical moments I thought my day couldn’t get any better, but it was time for tea ceremony lessons and the master asked if I would like to be the guest so I said yes and went to the back room to have another full tea ceremony with the apprentice. The master was strict with us both but I learned so much. I figured not feeling my legs is a small price to pay. Now I know how to hold the cup correctly, turn correctly, and that there are specific angles to be the most graceful you can be. It was almost meditative being in such a small space and hearing the water, the sound of her socks on the tatami. Very different from group settings!

It’s raining in Kyoto today so I again have an entire temple to myself. Normally the tea ceremony is done for a group, but no one else is here so I got a private showing. Jōshō-ji is famous for tea and a very famous geisha Yoshino Tayu is buried here. She donated the vermillion gate that welcomes you to the temple. The group tea room is very large but there are two other tea rooms on the grounds. They are normally closed but I was invited to view them as long as I took only memories. The tea mistress speaks no English but her assistant is quite fluent and gave me an amazing tour. Rainy days can be wonderful.
Check out my Farshots! This is the one thing I will NOT allow myself to buy. I cannot collect Sylvanian Families. They are adorable. But they would just sit in a box. I’m not going to play with them, I’m not going to let anyone put their grubby little fingers on them, and there are too many. They deserve to be played with not simply admired. So I take pictures and look at their cuteness, but I own zero.

Akuyaku Reijou Tensei Oji-san (From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated!)
The otome game isekai can be a little tropey, but what happens when a 52 year old civil servant is reincarnated as the villainess? He tries his best to hang with the fellow kids and be a good villain, but his dad tendencies tend to shine through and he just can’t get the hang of this being evil thing.
I honestly wasn’t sure about this one but found myself giggling on the bus as the story unfolds and now I’m adding the manga to my reading list because I want to know what happens next!

Time for tea and cake at the temple. This one has a pretty large cafe but it’s in a beautiful old tea house and I can see Benzaiten’s Shrine from here. She’s the only goddess in the 7 Lucky Gods and she protects artists so I always visit her when I can.
Now that the kids are back in school and vacation is over and the Sakura is falling, I feel like I have Kyoto to myself.
But I don’t mind. I can enjoy all the art and zen in peace.

I was honestly worried about the blossoms after the crazy rain all day Sunday but some of them really held on! Good job Sakura! I’m proud of you!
I finally finished the LuLuLun and I’ve decided they are great morning sheet masks, but they aren’t hydrating enough when the humidity is low to really serve as a night sheet mask. I always get sucked into the limited edition scents for each region and I always hate myself after. Their individually wrapped masks are pretty amazing, but the 7 pack is not.
The SANA wasn’t as hydrating as I hoped. I’m willing to try it again as it warms up but maybe other version. It didn’t have as much essence in the package as other brands at a similar price point.
The essence in the jelly mask is FANTASTIC but it does NOT work as a sheet mask! All the gel clumps to certain parts of the mask. I ended up cutting them up and using them under my eyes and just focusing on the essence. If I could buy it in a jar, I would!!!

I love circle window that look into a garden. This temples illumination event was extended but no one got the memo which meant more time for me to enjoy it alone! I just sat here enjoying the stillness.
I’ve been catching up on anime on the bus each day and one I really enjoyed was “Medalist” about figure skating. It’s light and cute and the animation is great! Pros did the choreography for the anime and it shows! A short 13 episodes and a season 2 confirmed!
They did a Sanrio Collab last year and I’m still hunting for the merch in the second hand stores!

I found this card and this little plushie at the Keage incline today and since it’s going to rain tomorrow I dropped them off at the nearest police box and badly Google translated where I found them. I hope they get reunited with their owners! The poor policemen were so nice and confused as I switched between translate and maps to show them where they were left.
