The 'Ichinyo Raifuku Amulet' from Anahachi Shrine is believed to bring financial good fortune. I stood in line to get them today (and got some at the Temple next door too!)!
The shrineโs special charm is available only during the winter solstice every year (Dec 21 2024 today!) These charms are to be put up at exactly midnight on either the first day of winter solstice, on New Yearโs Eve, or on Setsubun (the last day of winter), and they should be placed high on a roomโs wall, facing the โehou,โ or lucky direction, of the year. It also came with complicated directions and I need a compass to do it correctly. Luckily the ones that go in your wallet just need to be placed at the correct time!

There is a shrine dedicated to Benzaiten right in the middle of Ueno Park. Itโs in the center of the lake there and itโs a special because here she is seen as Happi-Benzaiten which literally means โEight Elbows Benzaitenโ. This is because she has eight arms which hold different weapons for fighting off evil and sheโs housed in an eight-sided building. Benzaiten is a goddess of all things that flow which includes words, wisdom, wealth, and art! I bought all the charms and prayed for all the artists on Farcaster and lit incense!
Sadly, the original temple was destroyed in a bombing raid in World War 2. However, the statue of Benzaiten survived the bombing and is now enshrined in the new Main Hall which is a reconstruction of the 17th century temple and built in 1958.

Spoiler alert. I ate it. It WAS delicious. Salted caramel with a huge dollop of caramel inside the middle. This was my dinner because Iโm an adult. I bought the hat because:
1) it was cute
2) I ended up eating all my meals here because I could mobile order and the wait was less than an hour. Iโd didnโt see a snack cart or restaurant with less than 200 people in line all day.

The new Fantasy Springs section at Tokyo Disney Sea is unreal. I felt like I stepped into the movie โTangledโ.
The Beauty and the Beast ride next door at Disneyland is still the best ride out of all the Disney parks in the entire world (fight me) but hot dang does this come a close second as far as theming, vibe, and animatronics.

We do a little Disney Sea. Itโs like being in the Twilight Zone though. There is nothing at all Disney about this except you might see a character hat. Most of the merchandise is Duffy, who is Mikey Mouseโs Teddy Bear and exceeds him in popularity 1000x. Even the Tower of Terror isnโt scary. Christmas decorations are maybe at 5. Disney at home would be Christmas every 3 feet! This was the only โlandโ with any decorations and itโs because itโs supposed to be New York!
Someone asked me what my guilty pleasure anime was and I have many. But the first is The Prince of Tennis. So silly. So cute. Still pops up with a new version every few years. Still get sucked in. What about you?

Iโm on boat! The โPirate Shipsโ at Lake Ashi might feel out of place, but they are a quintessential experience when you go to Hakone. The lake is about 15 miles long so walking is not an option. Upgrade your ticket so you can have the captainโs view.

If you eat the Kuro Tamago (the Black Egg) in Hakone, you get 7 years added to your life. I ate 2! They turn black (the shells) when cooked due to the sulphur. This also supplies the onsen water for most of Hakone. Yay active volcanoes!
