apple pundits don’t realize that regular people don’t care about this stuff at all
the number of people who both desperately want Apple Intelligence AND don’t know about the 18.1 beta is zero
normal people get new phones way after they’re released, have probably heard “Apple Intelligence” in passing for a year, and will be pleasantly surprised whenever it shows up on their phone
there’s no reason for Apple not to advertise it, yet i keep seeing takes like this again and again

the short stories in this collection were honestly a bit hit or miss, except for one — Poker Night — that’s probably my favorite piece of writing on the absurdity of aging and dying that i’ve ever come across
i love being a dad
TIL the word “company” comes from the Latin “companio” which includes “pan” (bread), meaning “one who eats bread with you”
now reading Trust Me by John Updike
i picked this up because i heard it was similar in vibe to East of Eden, but i felt it was somewhat of an antithesis — where Steinbeck’s characters doing their best within a world filled with tragedy, Yates paints a picture of characters trying to do their worst within (and because of) a world of abundance
both are valuable to ruminate on

that feeling when you’re on vacation and it’s a sunday but you have a good idea for a @base creative project so you text @nngllzz.eth and start to cook 😇

highlights how figures like Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison drew upon ancient wisdom to shape the nation, but falls short in explaining the Greco-Roman context in depth
too getting bogged down in comparing the lives of the founding fathers to modernity, but some interesting nuggets nonetheless

found an old talk from Steve Jobs in 1983 where he basically predicts our current experience with LLMs

the onchain internet is still in its Nokia phase, revolutionary but clunky
to bring the world onchain, we have to get to the iPhone era — and the iPhone era is coming 🫡
