I just claimed my Based Africa Buildathon prizes for the Legitify project(legitify-jade.vercel.app)—both the bounty and the QV funding—as well as some onchain creds!
Beyond that, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be hosting a Base University meetup on January 18, 2025, at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The event will bring together students from various universities across Tanzania to learn about blockchain and web3 through the Base blockchain ecosystem.
So far, I’ve helped 16 students create their own coinbase wallets and register for the event with their wallet addresses.
Our goal is to have 80+ attendees, and we’ll be creating a basename for each participant on the day of the event.
If you’re interested in joining us or participating in anyhow as we onboard students onchain, feel free to register, reach out and be part of this change!

Yesterday, my teammate and I from LEGITIFY co-hosted a Twitter Space with the Tanzania Base Community led by @kregen. We shared our journey building on Base, how we tackled challenges specifically obtaining base sepolia faucets and the integration of vue.js with the contracts, and the path that led us to win the Based Africa Buildathon representing Tanzania! 🚀
We had in-depth discussions about expanding LEGITIFY to cover more use cases and our vision for creating an on-chain community that empowers more builders, encouraging how Base is truly for everyone: developers, creators and users.
Excited to announce we're planning a Base meetup in January at the University of Dar es Salaam to onboard as many students as possible to blockchain tech and encourage new innovators to base.

Legitify – proud to announce that we won the Based Africa Buildathon powered by @devfolio as the only Tanzanian team! 🎉 Legitify is a Web3 solution fighting document fraud in Tanzania with tamper-proof, verifiable certificates on the @base blockchain.
As university students from the University of Dar es Salaam, we see Web3 as Africa’s opportunity to solve local challenges. Document fraud is a serious issue in Tanzania, where fake certificates and forged documents impact personal growth and economic stability. Legitify addresses this by securing credentials on IPFS, pinned under infura nodes with cryptographic protection, ensuring trust and transparency for all.

Honored and thrilled to see Legitify recognized as the only project from Tanzania in the Based Africa buildathon, powered by @devfolio ! 🌍 This is a step forward in our mission to fight document fraud and empower our communities through web3. Africa deserves tech solutions that work for us, and Legitify is here to secure trust, one verified document at a time. Big congrats to all teams, and huge thank you to the @base community. We're only getting started and hope to onboard as many people onchain as possible.
