hey team! here is my go-to lower body flexibility sequence!

why i love this routine:
preps you for victory: i did this before winning british champs so it works
recovery booster: perfect for soothing those post-workout muscles.

i've attached a graphic in the replies with all the moves detailed too :)

shoutout to team ac member @veekay for the video suggestion!
instead of a story time i want to do a AMA

in january i had a serious quad injury and in june i became british triple jump champion for the 11th time!

i believe that my comeback was due to these five things:

1. research
2. diet
3. sports psychology/ mental preparation
4. intensive rehab
5. rest and recovery

ask me anything!
huge congrats to /actrackclub member @zeni.eth for placing 2nd in the 1500m at the Nakagami area track meet earlier today.

"he who says he can and he who says he can't, are both usually right"

i flopped at the world championships in 2022

because i overthought it

to automatically make the final i had to jump 14.40m

i thought 'realistically' about it

"there is no way i can make the final as i haven't jumped that far before"

i tried to be realistic rather than optimistic

and i made up reasons for why i wouldn't be able to do it

and i didn't

when i went back to the hotel the team captain told me i was being fearful

3 weeks later at the commonwealth games i entered the comp ranked 6th on paper but i shifted my perspective of fear to an almost delusional belief

i jumped 4 personal bests and got a bronze medal ( and was 2cm off the silver, behind the current olympic triple jump champion! )

i didn't do much extra training in those weeks but the big improvement came from a shift in mindset

'stop thinking what if it goes wrong and start thinking what if it goes right'

have you tried dynamic stretches before working out?

dynamic stretches are stretches which include movement rather than just holding a position

they are great to do before exercise as they prepare muscles and joints for exercise and improve flexibility and range of motion.

here are three you could try!

1. lunge to half splits
2. supine hamstring stretch
3. hip rotation

i've included some youtube videos with more detailed instructions in the replies!

* Never perform dynamic stretches if you’re injured, unless your doctor or physical therapist recommends them, take it easy and never push past pain
hey team! how are you moving today?

this lower body circuit can be done as a home workout or as a warm up prior to a gym / run session!

exercises

- squats 45 seconds
- glute bridge 45 seconds
- lying leg raises 45 seconds each side
- alternate donkey kick 45 seconds

15 seconds rest between each exercise

and do 2/3 rounds if you’re doing this as a standalone workout!

*a longer version of this workout with instructions will be available for hypersub subscribers in the on-demand video library soon!

have a great day! ☺️

don’t adjust your goals, adjust your actions

in 2016 i was DESPERATE to jump 13 meters (42.65 feet for the americans)

i did competition after competition but i just couldn't get past that barrier

i realised that something HAD to change

so i started doing sports psychology

( i also changed my diet, i mean it was SO bad i used to eat subway cookies and crisps for my lunch every single day)

i learned to no longer be obsessed with the distance but put all of my focus into what i could control e.g sleep, diet, strength training

in 2017 i became british senior champion for the first time at 19 years old with 13.68 metres!

oh and if you haven't done it yet follow /actrackclub 👀
