scoutreader.app is definitely one of the most interesting Farcaster clients I’ve come across, especially for someone like me who enjoys exploring social media. It’s clean, smooth, and allows users to select accounts of interest and use advanced filters to create a focused feed.

In terms of custom feeds, if aims to become even more powerful, it could consider borrowing ideas from some well-executed clients. For example, @buoy offers more filtering options like keywords, while Bluesky clients allow users to create multiple feeds (even programmable) and share them.

That being said, I’m happy to see Scout’s launch and the innovative efforts behind it. Looking forward to more!

just read ai16z’s new whitepaper on Eliza: a Web3-friendly AI agent operating system. While much of the content has been discussed before, the whitepaper exudes ambition.

Some criticize it for lacking major technical innovations compared to commonly used frameworks like LangChain. However, as the whitepaper emphasizes, Eliza’s strength lies in its Web3-friendly design. It simplifies multi-chain integrations and includes comprehensive support for social networks (notably Farcaster), enabling a deep fusion of AI and Web3. This allows devs and users to quickly tailor solutions to their needs while lowering the barrier to advanced AI functionality.

If any future framework claims to be better, I’ll be looking to see if it matches Eliza’s modular support for models, chains, and social network clients.

Jesse’s focus on the Chinese community on Base is a great sign. One of the most significant forces in crypto will now direct more attention to Base, bringing in more money, innovation, and users, making @base even greater.

Surprisingly, with TikTok banned, China's Xiaohongshu has climbed to the top of the US App Store. Calling it a "Chinese Instagram" isn’t quite right, it more looks like Pinterest, but users mainly share photo-text posts and short videos centered on lifestyle, similar to Lemon8, the 2nd-ranked app, which is a TikTok-produced Xiaohongshu fork branding itself as a "lifestyle community".

Xiaohongshu's popularity in China owes much to its powerful recommendation algo, making it a lifestyle search engine (especially for shopping) where you can find answers to nearly any query. Likewise, Twitter’s success, especially in crypto, stems from its rich content and strong discovery mechanisms (recommendations + search), allowing quick access to project discussions.

Many DeSoc lack effective content distribution in their clients, which lowers user engagement. While the content is rich, better discovery mechanisms, like stronger recommendation algos, are needed. Maybe AI agents could help now, but still early.
