Recommendation for US based lawyer for company formation and first raise of SAFE + token warrants?

Literally for a friend 😀 - I mostly know Canadian lawyers.
I'm super excited to announce Causal Islands Berlin - Community Edition!

The Oct 4th - 5th event is going to be a lower-cost, smaller event, and tickets are on sale now. Discounts until the end of Aug for early tickets.

At Paradigm Coworking in SF.

Lovely space Arcana.
I got my @daylightcomputer a couple of days ago and posted some quick unboxing pics.

I bought it 2 years ago when the company even had a different name.

I’m looking forward to exploring it more.
Been thinking about this across multiple ecosystems beyond mobile.

Apps is itself a broad category - think also WordPress plugins, Browser extensions, Frames

And: app stores, distribution, discovery, curation, payment

One of the biggest censorship vectors for blockchain protocols is RPC / lack of light clients.

This is solved by more P2P-ish data transfer (eg IPFS, Farcaster Hubs, ATProtocol PDS), but this is also a UX barrier: running servers on phones, at home, etc is hard and potentially pricey.

In protocol terms, you don’t opt out of SMTP storing and forwarding email.

An email client or hosting service would have its own ToS, some of which depends on what its jurisdiction is.
“You can’t just point at things and call them all protocols”
Operating systems = protocol layer.

For Apple and Google, accounts, storage, and payment are included.

Windows ??? Legacy install base.

Apple bundles user data + synch.

Cross-platform? Good luck!

There ARE new opportunities for “OS” layers opening up. Not sure who has the patient capital to go for it.
Game publishers have moved to building in house gaming engines. That’s the protocol layer.

They use a studio to development IP into a game. That’s a full stack app, including a client.

DLC and modding tools can extend that app. Frames, alt clients.

Publishers also provide accounts & payment.
The word client is also a red herring.

What app are you building that sits on top of the account system and social graph of Farcaster?
The next boss for Farcaster-the-protocol is 1M DAU

@dwr.eth is calling his shot at the final boss of 10M DAUs

Some paths to get there: proto apps that go beyond microblogging and country specific growth (these can be venture sized)

One layer up, vibrant dev community around primitives.
Immediately made me think of WebSim https://websim.ai

Toggle into hallucinate mode, trained on Farcaster data.
Concrete example: @owl @depatchedmode and I decide to do a job listings type.

We can include a body (so that it shows up in all clients) but we want to store jobs on FC.

So we make our own little JSON payload and stick it in MESSAGE_TYPE_EXTRA

Others are welcome to adopt same … or not! @horsefacts.eth
Fun story: I completely forgot I bought the founders edition when the company had a different name 2 years ago.

The company is a public benefit corp, runs on non Google Play store Android.
Hey @mg — is /xmtp group chat based on MLS?

Does it work with multiple / p2p servers?

Pointers to architecture links appreciated!

Anyone working on e2ee should be aware of the effort to try and paint Signal in a bad light / promote Telegram.

If you care about privacy, don’t use Telegram.

Protocols over platforms.

The only reason we stare into the rectangle is to catch a glimpse of the humans trapped inside it.

Technology, communications, messaging is only in service of increasing the number of hugs 🫂
We grew the Drupal community year over year from 40 people -> 200 -> 500 -> 1500

Above 300-500 you start needing long lead times to get venue and hotel availability.

Bursaries, paying speakers, sponsor representation, “no shilling” and other norms need to be set.
TFW you get an invite to the Full Node party in /berlin but you live 8000km away.

Updating my profile on the CalDotCom booking calendar I self host and once again really impressed at the feature set.

Next up: Daily as Zoom replacement (this powers Cal Video).

What would be actually useful in "frames for publishers" would be:
* tip
* subscribe
* rate

Anyone working on this? I'm interested in seeing this work with content hosted anywhere -- there are specific platform integrations that would likely be good growth channels.
