Daughter: would you play a game with me?

Everdell is just CUTE. Great table presence.
I finished reading "Show Your Work".

I shared this in /okbanger (join the channel and watch a stream!) earlier. At the beginning, the author proposes a way to think of creativity is through a “scenius”.

It describes a “scenius” as a model where “great ideas are often birthed by a group of creative individuals - artists, curators, thinkers, theorists, and other tastemakers - who make up an ‘ecology of talent’”

Basically, creatives influences and inspire and borrow from other creatives.

The book also proposes :

“The Internet is basically a bunch of scieniuses connected together, divorced from physical geography”

I love this idea. Especially, as it applies to Farcaster. @cameron @christin
Seems a good a time as any to kickstart this channel. 😉 I have a ton of D&D content (articles, videos, art) that I plan to create and cast here (and recast into /tabletop). If you have an interest in producing compelling D&D content, reach out! 🙂
I missed 20 hours of my cast boost, so I'm using the last 4 hours to share some ideas I would like to explore, and maybe find some cohorts. Here is the start of an idea thread. 🙂 🧵 👇
Admittedly, not much to show yet, but started planing boards (cherry and maple, mainly) for my gaming table project. The boards leaning against the garage are set aside for the leaves. We only kept a couple at width (around 10 inches), while others we cut down to 5 inch strips to glue together.
Played the start of a Strahd campaign this weekend (I have never played any of the adventures, despite owning the Ravenloft boxed set awhile back).
Got to play Revive this weekend. Glad to have it taught to me (since I've heard that the rule book leaves a lot to be desired).

It falls in the medium/heavy range, different factions and cards, and some good decision points (on first pass). Definitely a game that I'll play again soon.
Played 3 player Terraforming Mars (with Preludes 2 expansion) last night.

The two preludes I kept were both new. I kept 3 cards from the initial draft (one of them also a new Preludes 2 card). Got to play Deimos Down and Giant Ice Asteroid each twice...and was paid to do it. 😈

Watching /okbanger on "Create" and casting. 😆

Have you ever read “Show Your Work” (great book, by the way)?

Let's talk board game mechanics? Likes? Dislikes? Comment below!

For my part, I'll be throwing shade at Catan! 😈
Let's talk "Crafting Magic Items" in D&D! I'm unhappy with the current crafting rules. It makes more transactional.

What supplements are out there that make for a better crafting system? Any homebrew rules? I'm likely gonna cobble together some of my favorite rules...maybe even open source it.
Would love to hear more context on the discussions where the phrase "channel entrepreneurs" was used, @mjc716. I'm excited to see that term used.

FB has over 1B participating in Groups. What is missing from groups is ownership & shared upside for participating & growing the community. Think this is a huge opportunity.
I’m actually the top, not the bottom. 😉 So much so that I sometimes have trouble adapting mid-game if it isn’t going to plan. I know a player that is more like the bottom…and he’s a brilliant player. It looks effortless.
I LOVE this game. I had picked it up because the kickstarter drew me in (puzzle game, like an elaborate escape room) and revolves entirely around the city of Prague (if you have been there, you'll see a lot you recognize).

It is best played with one other person...and obviously, once you're finished, it can't be played again (so, like a legacy game in that respect).
Question for my fellow table-toppers!

What's the most memorable board game session you've ever had?
This would actually be a hilarious magic item...
Funny...but it also hurts. 😆
We got in two tables last night, and one of them was Terraforming Mars with the Preludes 2 expansion. There were some fun corporations and new preludes. My son played a prelude that allowed him to draw new preludes each round and pay 12 (if he opted to play it).

Played base + venus + preludes. Ended round 9 with a final score of 95, 82, 76, 70.
