There are only 2 things you need to be intelligent:

1) Understand category distinction
2) Avoid word-concept fallacies
Happy to report that I did, in fact, waste time on the internet today.
Not me tearing up reading about King David taking care of King Saul's last remaining disabled son . . . 2 Samuel Chapter 9
I'm getting increasingly more creative in how I ask people if they've tried restarting their computer. This is an essential skill as a tech professional.
I'm on my biannual weapon windowshopping spree. I'm confident it's a tradition for all Americans.
I think I finally figured out what I want my online presence to be. It took several years of thought and experimentation. I'm glad I never blew up or went viral. That could have accidentally cornered me into some niche or persona that doesn't fit. It will take a bit of time to shift direction but I'm in no hurry.
It took me a long time to learn that TEXT is an art in and of itself. A poem or story being written does not make it less than a film, or a comic, or a videogame. There are certain qualities to the written word that create an experience totally unique to this medium.
Writing 1st drafts make me want to die 🙃
Current strategy for managing absolute madman story notes: This story follows a 4 act structure. Each act is split into an "Early Notes" section and a "Later Notes" section. You slot all your ideas in a semi-chronological order into these subsections. Then you find their exact place in the story as you write.
I think everyone should be learning another language on the side. Don't stress about it, don't study too hard, just go with the flow and learn as you go. I took an 8ish year break from learning Japanese and I'm trying to get back into the swing of things 🗾
It's a hard lesson learned for any writer trying to avoid sounding too 'fancy' or 'purple.' An easy way to include outlandish vocabulary without harming the reading experience is by including a character who has an exotic manner of speech. But DON'T make them a main character!
I really thought I would get bored of The Two Towers once the perspective switched back over to Frodo and Sam. I didn't anticipate how much Sméagol would spice up the character dynamics. His manner of speech is endlessly entertaining 💬
I really dislike the podcast thing where the *dude in the background* chimes in, or laughs. It's the present day version of laugh-tracks in sitcoms and it's just as cheesy. Be on the podcast, or don't be.
Being an adult is just forgetting people's names and figuring out what's for dinner on a daily basis.
Convince me not to reread my WIP again instead of writing the next chapter.
I didn't get migrated into most of the channels I followed, but I did get added as a member to this channel, which I didn't follow! Fascinating!
One of my posts got eaten by the channel changes! I'll repost my LOTR thoughts later.
He drifted back into coffee addiction . . . ☕
The best thing about being an American office worker is beginning your email with "Howdy."
It's interesting to me that all of my favorite anime are original to the medium of animation. They have no prior manga/novel source material. My two favorites are Ergo Proxy and Kyousougiga. What's also stand-out is most of my favorites have female protagonists too.
I'm already liking the UI changes and consolidation. I only worry a bit about the growing pains with the coming channel changes (dead channels, difficulty joining desirable channels). Overall I still like the direction, in perponderance of sufficient decentralization of course ⛓️
Pretty crazy how I'm still learning new words in my native language. This one I learned while studying another!
Man I FINALLY made some breakthrough progress on the 2nd half of chapter 26. I haven't had week-long block like this in a while. It took me reorganizing all of my messy notes and lots of false-starts. But we got there.
