Finally started putting stuff back🥳. Had some headwinds - poor weather, hidden disasters underground which needed sorting and to cap it all my van blew up this week 😔. Still, going the right way now and next week should see some slabs down and anew vehicle 🤞
Progress report - weather has broken, lost time already to rain and found some nasties under the patio. Thankfully no bodies but no compaction of sub-base, no weepholes in retaining wall and totally sub standard roof water management 😭. Lots of extra work😞.
Wife away this weekend 🤔 could have done drinking all weekend or......Lawn Torture🤭. Time for autumn renovations before the weather breaks. Follow replies for more pics.
Winter's coming 😔. There are some good things though!
Because I haven't for a while 😉
It's a sad day, my work companion for more than 20 yes has finally decided to retire 😭. Absolute favourite digging shovel, it's going to take several years work to break another one in. I'm hoping to repurpose this as a barrow mixing shovel though 🤞
Big project begins today. 2 months work most likely,1 deck rebuild, 2 patios, 100tons plus of earth moving, pergolas, slopes steps and 200+ oak sleepers..... Should be fun!
My absolute favourite apple variety is Charles Ross and this tree is doing well this year 🎉. Already been eating them for a couple of weeks but this is the sweet spot for this variety right now. Another couple of weeks and the fruit loses it's super crisp texture but is still great to stew.
Pear, from the garden today. Was a major meal commitment 🤤. Not sure of the variety but it tasted bloomin good!
Thx @clfx.eth I have a potential job for a vineyard in the spring hence the trial. This system is a TLUD method. Top lit up draft. I incorporated a retort kiln in the top too to make use of the waste heat to make some lumpwood charcoal too (not pictured). I won't be using this method, not suitable for my needs but a fun tryout! On to the next one!
Testing a new burn method for charcoal.....
Just some nice scenery. Anyone guess where this is?
A little something for you all to enjoy. Something my garage has never seen.... A car 🤣.
Today I managed to snap a lizard🎉!
A couple more butterflies to enjoy😉
I'm loving where I'm staying at the moment. The butterflies and damselflies are awesome!
Not a bad place to spend a few days! Nice little French river.
Found a garden with some great tree ferns and gunnera in Nantes today!
This is what every garage lover aspires to be doing IMO! This is like the biggest garage dream ever. Happen to be in Nantes France, take a look at the Iles des machines 🤝
Found a nice patch of gunnera and tree ferns today in the 'jardin extrodinaire' I was pretty pleased to see them!
I love France! Always gonna find something unexpected!!
Just had to take a picture and post it of this fab fern growing wild in the woods. No idea what it is tbh!
About the most random tree I've seen for a while!!
@jachian 🤯 it's the small man's representation of our struggle to control nature.....doomed to fail but try none the less! We all have our Wimbledon moment at some point 'ahh, that's nearly perfect ' although for most it will be fleeting! To see it represented far better than I can describe, see Asterix in Britain....the french authors obviously delight in our English weakness for a good lawn and who can blame them🤣 🤝.
Help! We're away at the moment and this is in the garden where we're staying. I'm stumped. Jasmine like flower and the scent is off the grid gets you high strong. Again, jasmine like but it's a tree! I wanna say it's a viburnum of some kid but 🤷‍♂️??
