Olokun Episode 3: The Storm of Discontent EP #3

Years passed, and the people of Ilase grew complacent. They began to take the sea’s bounty for granted and forgot the lessons Olokun had taught them. The festival became a mere formality, lacking the reverence and gratitude it once held.

Olokun, sensing the change, grew disappointed. The sea, once gentle and giving, turned tumultuous. Storms ravaged the coast, and the fish disappeared. The villagers, realizing their neglect, feared they had angered the goddess.

In their desperation, the elders of Ilase gathered to seek Olokun’s forgiveness. They remembered the wisdom she had shared and understood that they had strayed from the path of respect and harmony with nature.

Long before the cities of today were built, there was a small coastal village named Ilase in Yoruba land. The people of Ilase were deeply connected to the sea, for it provided them with food and means of trade. But the sea was also unpredictable, and its tempers were feared.

One day, a mysterious figure arrived in Ilase. She was Olokun, the goddess of the sea, known for her beauty and power. Her skin shimmered like the ocean under the sun, and her hair flowed like the waves. The villagers were both awed and fearful of her presence, for they knew she could bring both prosperity and destruction.

Olokun spoke to the elders of Ilase, promising them wealth and abundance if they honored and respected the sea. In return, she asked for a festival in her honor, where the villagers would celebrate the bounty of the ocean and pay homage to its mysteries.

In the heart of Yoruba land, the majestic Benin Warriors' Gate stood as a testament to bravery and unity. Crafted in the 16th century during the reign of Oba Esigie, the gate was adorned with intricate carvings depicting legendary battles.

The gate served as the entry point to the fortified city of Benin, a symbol of the strength and ingenuity of its people. Warriors clad in traditional armor stood guard, their spears glinting in the sun. They were the guardians of the Oba's kingdom, sworn to protect their land and people.

Legend spoke of a time when the Yoruba and Benin warriors joined forces to repel invaders. Their alliance was sealed at the gate, where they shared oaths of loyalty under the gaze of the gods.

Today, the Benin Warriors' Gate remains a revered monument, a reminder of the courage and unity that shaped the history of Nigeria's Yoruba land.

GM! Arts lover [THE PLACE OF WOMEN IN THE WORLD WE LIVES IN]

In a bygone village nestled amidst ancient hills, young Aria stumbled upon the hidden journal of Elara, a woman from generations past. Elara's inked pages spoke of a time when women's voices echoed softly yet powerfully through history's corridors. They were healers, scribes, and keepers of wisdom, their contributions often obscured by the shadows of men.

Aria, captivated by Elara's tales of resilience and quiet rebellion, sought out the elder women of her village. Together, they unraveled stories of courage and quiet defiance-women who tended wounds on battlefields, negotiated peace in councils, and shaped traditions in whispers passed down through centuries.

Inspired by these revelations, Aria became a catalyst for change, challenging the village's norms that confined women to roles of support and silence. [READ MORE] 👇 👇 👇 👇

GM! art lovers, I bring to U [THE DAUGHTERS OF THE WATER #1]

In the lush heart of Yorubaland, where the Ogun River whispered secrets to ancient trees, there lived the daughters of water, descendants of the Orisha of the rivers and motherhood Yemoja. The women are the bridge between the celestial and the terrestrial, having the ability to speak to the sea and command the waters.

The legend says Yemoja came to earth some time back and took male lovers to give birth to the daughters.

Each woman bore a distinct gift, a reflection of Yemoja’s multifaceted nature. Some could sense the emotions of those around them as easily as sensing the flow of water, while others had the ability to heal with their touch, mending wounds and ailments as if coaxing the health to flow back into the body. Others were able to sing to the oceans and seas bringing calm or scream to erupt turbulent waves.

The legend of daughters of water spread across the country as they keep the people safe by warding off terrorists and pirates.

Absolutely agree!
Overthinking can be a major hurdle, especially in challenging times. It often leads to unnecessary stress and hinders clear decision-making. Sometimes, taking a step back and focusing on actionable steps is the best approach. 👀
