On Compound Proposal 304, @a16zcrypto voted YES. Given the current threat model facing the Compound DAO, adding a proposal guardian with veto power is appropriate until longer-term changes are made to Compound governance.

For anyone building at the application layer:

Today we introduce cash flows for application tokens.

Application tokens — which correspond to smart contract protocols deploying services on top of blockchains that relay rights in “distributed businesses” — have historically lacked economic models connecting the tokens to the cash flows of the underlying businesses they are embedded within.

There are three long-standing challenges to connecting cash flows to app tokens.
1. Governance
2. Value Distribution
3. Regulated Activity
Albert Camus on the most important choice you'll ever face

“To decide whether life is worth living is to answer the fundamental question of philosophy. Everything else…is child’s play; we must first of all answer the question.”
America is on the path to getting crypto legislation done right. Great news for founders that want to make crypto innovation happen here, in America.

How severe are adverse selection costs in conditional markets aka futarchy?

On a range from very high (specific prediction markets) to low (spot equities markets), where do conditional markets fall?
Anyone coming to consensus and want to get some mat time in?
is it more correct to view an efficient prediction market as a mechanism to provide accurate probabilities for outcomes, rather than predicting binary outcomes?

e.g. prediction markets correctly assigned Trump a <50% probability of winning the 2016 election.
What are some examples of prediction markets getting it wrong?
E.g. prediction markets believed Hillary would win the 2016 US presidential election.

Trying to build a comprehensive list of examples.

Also curious as to strong counter-examples I.e. prediction markets were right & contrary to the “professionals”
What are the coolest things being built at the intersection of information markets and decision making / governance?
What’s the best/definitive book on the history of France?

Requirement: Needs to be enjoyable aka not just a dry textbook. Something similar to Mary Beard’s SPQR on the history of Rome

In the span of ~8 years, landing a first stage has gone from technological miracle to table stakes.

This is huge news for DAOs.

Registering a DUNA legal entity will enable DAOs to engage in legal contracts with other entities and provide legal protection to individual DAO members. All other legal entities available to DAOs fall short on these metrics.

What does the term 'public good' mean to you?

Before crypto, 'public good' maintained a concrete economic definition.

I perceive that the term means many different things to different people now, with a wide spread.

The concept of learning styles (e.g. auditory, visual, kinesthetic) is widely accepted as fact in American education, yet there is 0 empirical support for the concept.

It’s a myth, a poltergeist - it doesn’t exist. It materialized out of nowhere many decades ago and overtook the education zeitgeist.
