Now and then we all think of something relevant to something, but there is no channel for it. Apropos just means - "with reference to", including "apropos of nothing" when you just have a good thought you want to share. This is that place! Enjoy.

Quantum is an observed natural phenomenon. It was annoying for a while because it broke things, but it’s real and accepted as such, now, and so we can observe and repeat it and try to make machines that exhibit the effects in a controllable way reliably and at scale. This is what a quantum computer is; the machine that tries to achieve these effects at scale. The rest is just programming using the quantum equivalent of digital logic gates constructed by maths applied to the physical manipulations and observations. We are both there; the theory and math is known, and not there because the machines don’t scale. And we also don’t have a shared understanding of where “there” is because it’s a space unanchored that needs the machines to anchor them.

Well, it’s nearly the end of the year. I sure did over commit this year. I didn’t see my quantum policy paper sending me back to study but it did so I’ll be finishing that next year. Then I have a short story in abeyance. Tech definitely took a commercial turn so that’s good but quiet. I don’t talk about politics so I’ve ended up being quite quiet.

The quiet coding is paying off. Did some field testing last night and all my RAW photos went to the cloud on demand. Now working on the processing pipeline. The goal is 30 seconds from camera to media fully pro processed. I’ll get there (and it has a virtual virtual machine managing the processing stack 🥸)
