tfw you spent the last two years building a game only for its first release to become the lowest-engaged activation of its history

in the world of game development, this is called "the dark tunnel," and it is said to be inevitable

typically, the tunnel is entered around the time of a completed mvp, as it is around this time that product direction starts to solidify, initial hype fades, teams face capital constraints, and playability remains significantly limited by accessibility & porting challenges

so while it doesn't feel great, it also doesn't change anything & at the end of the day, it's better that we enter this tunnel sooner rather than later

so remember:

as a founder, it's important that i remind myself every day that no one cares about the project as much as i do

as a human, it's important that i cut myself some slack once in awhile & think about where i started & how far i've come

and as someone who is their own biggest enemy, it's important that i do not take these things personally

show me another chart in crypto that looks like this over the past 12-months... i'll wait...
if you put $10k into base pretty much anytime in the last few months, it should now be at least $20k

ty based god
ty uptober
ty bald guys
ty builders
ty farcaster
ok the $fire & $op drops were unexpectedly fat & this $wct one looking like it might be too
this is a basil inspired SoS npc

>got my little brother on fc months ago
>he bought $bored
>got rekt, got mad, ”fuck this” & quits
>two weeks ago i tell him it’s time
>he buys $higher and $degen
>he texts me today, “yo this is sick. i joined higher & degen channels. i’ma degentleman now.”

funny how making money makes things so much more interesting & fun
supercycle is real (it’s base)
our pre-alpha is now live within our discord!

see you on Zienna! 🤝
👋

we’re working on /animarising, a mobile-first 3D idle MMORPG with 35 skills

if you played os runescape, vanilla warcraft or even stardew — this game is for you

we’re releasing our pre-alpha in discord tomorrow

if you have a windows pc & wanna play, hit me up :)

k ✌️
feeling degen rich today
our lead /animarising dev just sent us a new build (potentially final) & then immediately put his phone on DND & quit all social apps

this is the first time since we started working on this that i’ve seen him go fully dark

understandable since we’ve been nonstop for the last 72 hours & are all so cooked lmao

enjoy your well-deserved rest good sir… i will likely begin annoying you again the second you let me
within the realm of d2c & logistics, spirit halloween is a marvel
i’ve echoed the sentiment shared by others in this thread

it took me 28 years to realize that i can do whatever i want to do

it took me 28 years to decondition myself away from societal expectation, away from the 5-9 day, the 401k trap & the 3% annual raise that every friend & family member swore by & still follows religiously to this day

so think deeply on this: who are you?

i strongly believe that the age of serial entrepreneurs is waning & the age of purpose-led founders is emerging

it’s not enough anymore to build an app that pivots half-way through development to better capitalize on the “current thing”

as 9 out of 10 times you will get beat by someone who started on the ground level of the “current thing”

these days, the only way to out build, is to build from your heart

it’s to build something that you’re so obsessed with that it’s not possible for someone else to out work you

this is your advantage

it’s not tam, or industry, or some metric

it’s appetite

it’s chase
with each passing day, the significance of an intuitive & creative idea person grows, while the significance of mid-to-low level engineer falls

as ai increasingly displaces copypasta developers, it also continues to repurpose histories greatest creative ideas to those who ask

as ai increasingly writes code & learns to debug, an engineers capacity to “think outside the box” & find creative solutions declines

meanwhile, the next wave of idea people are being born into vacuums of reused content, constrained by the creativity of those who came before

while the problem-solving ideas of engineers are gradually replaced by machine, the process of creative ideation becomes recycled

we live in a world now where a creative with the right set of tools can replace a junior engineer & due to their ability to critically think, may even outperform

so as code becomes democratized & open, unique creativity becomes scarce

meaning the titans of tomorrow will be resourceful non-technical artists, not engineers
my first official post in /the-arena :)

i'm building /animarising, a mobile-first 3D idle MMORPG featuring 35 skills, a multiyear dark fantasy storyline & a p2p USDC marketplace

after 6 months of development, our pre-alpha, and first true release, is set to go out this monday in our discord!

as such, this week was spent

>fine tuning mechanics
>debugging, and
>implementing quality of life updates for our players

this includes our Skills page gridview toggle & our "Book of Domain," which can be found within Discovery (design files attached below)

>the new Skills gridview is mostly a cosmetic change & although it's something any MMO player will immediately recognize, it doesn't do much for gameplay beyond that

>our Discovery page now includes "Tomes," which are essentially mini Wiki's for each skill, a "Questing Log," which offers some light guidance & objectives to our testers, and our "Book of Domain," which allows players to look up all items (so far) & where they’re found within the Domain
devs & designers looking at each other 3 days before our first release
you will sell yourself to an L2 and you will like it
i’m on the leaderboard baby lfg
i want pham but can’t zap on ham site
