Thank you “The Outsiders” for having us 🙏🍃 beautiful week in NYC. Excited to brainstorm with their assistant director on some ideas for “Isabel” 🎭 Also met with the theater and the producer to get started on the vision.
Here’s something we understand as writers, but that might not be obvious right away: this musical is doing something different. In most fantasy stories, the audience easily believes in magical creatures because they’re dropped into worlds they’ve never seen, and even if things seem familiar, they accept the magic and follow the journey. But the Nouns characters are everyday objects & things we know. That’s why it’s so important for us to build a strong, believable lore, a world that feels so natural and rich, that the audience doesn’t question it. They just fall in love with these characters & the world of the nouns.🍁

The Los Angeles fires have been an emotional rollercoaster this past week, but both @alonearchitect and I are safe and headed back home after evacuating twice. Unfortunately, some of our friends weren’t as lucky and have had their lives changed for the worse. Our hearts go out to them and to the countless others who are fighting the fires in every way possible 🖤
