As in most of my films I was director, photographer, producer and now I will start with the distribution.
Synopsis : Nestled deep within a secluded Balkan forest, a 12th-century monastery becomes home to nine nuns living in profound isolation. "La Mansion de La Locura", directed by Juan López Moctezuma in 1973, is an adaptation of the story "The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether", by Edgar Allan Poe. López Moctezuma an important filmmaker in Mexican cinema; places the action of this film within the walls of an asylum.
The story begins when a journalist visits the asylum looking to write about a new, experimental approach to treating the mentally ill. However, the asylum is overrun by the patients, and even the doctors end up being more insane than the inmates.
The acclaimed painter and novelist Leonora Carrington was responsible for the artistic production and costumes design of the film, which gave a strong surreal and fantastical look.The film is a critique of societal constructs of religion, technology, revolution, and mysticism, all coming together in a space where control passes off as freedom, therefore, gives a dense, multilayered comment on the human condition

Years ago, I watched 'Electroma' by Daft Punk, and today I recall this fantastic film; a fascinating piece of experimental cinema. It offers a unique, almost meditative experience. It's a visually driven, wordless narrative that explores themes of identity, transformation, and alienation. Surprisingly, the soundtrack is not by Daft Punk but instead features a range of different tracks that enhance the film's melancholy mood, adding to its contemplative tone. You need to be patient, as the film is slow and feels more like a journey through an existential struggle than a traditional plot. But as an art film, 'Electroma' is a bold conceptual work that speaks to ideas of self, change, and the limits of technology, mirroring some of the philosophical questions Daft Punk has always explored in their music.
