"Myths are not lies. Nor are they detached stories. They are imaginative patterns, networks of powerful symbols that suggest particular ways of interpreting the world. They shape its meaning."

-Mary Midgley
What if there's nothing you ever have to do to earn your spot on the planet?
What would change if you accepted your finite time?
What truth about time would you tell your younger self?
Where are you exhausting yourself trying to control the uncontrollable?
What would you do if you knew there was no way you could do things "right"?
contributing to crypto is a privilege -- we get to work on hard problems, all day, in service of something amazing
success can look like releasing bound energy from the systems you exist within
2 frames to view decisions:

1) What do I want?
2) What wants to happen?

wonder can be a physiological state as opposed to a form of mental chatter
Unfortunately, this is harder when living in a yang era (kali yuga, 4th turning, whatever you want to call it)

The solution is to find refuge in the inner environment which can always hold space for yin and softness

studying context is a lot of fun.

you learn that the "content" of the events that happen on the planet are largely the function of all the elements that make it possible to begin with. it's environment. it's containers. the forces that all come together to make it possible.

the "shaman" type fills this role -- they immerse themselves in context, seen or unseen, to channel insight that can be wielded by those who seek it.

these days, this role is filled by the "system-thinker", a person who wants to follow threads and see how they connect to other threads, someone easily excited by complexity and non-linearity, and uses leverage to create change in the world.

they are humbled by the sheer profundity of the system they are embedded within and they understand that enduring change isn't top-down, it's a product of riding the waves of conflicting forces and gently guiding themselves as the world swifts them away.
I really like this frame: "it is impossible to love something psychologically oppressing you"

Once you fully welcome it, the thing loses power over you, and you can start loving it.
similar to people who claim enlightenment, you can’t really verify what they say to you.

it could be madness or something else. who knows!

This is also why we come up with kooky ideas like artificial wombs

The more time you spend in a world of concepts, the less you remain connected with your body, your primary gateway to physical reality

As a result, the concept gains power over reality (with negative concepts, we call this trauma)
