Hey, I like Dogecoin, it's a silly fun meme, but for the past few days my Google News feed has been shoving these shameless liquidity grabs to the top of the feed, and it's kind of infuriating.
Google News is such trash, yet somehow everything else is slightly worse in various ways, so I keep coming back.

“Short” for me would ideally be the full length of a single cast (320 characters), so two or three paragraphs long. Enough to give some informative context, THEN present a thoughtful opinion.
Then as a bonus, follow up with a second cast steelmanning or refuting possible counterpoints.
After that, keep replying with links to primary sources, timestamped YouTube links, charts, etc. Encourage or incentivize people to quote or reply to anything with more context. Highlight the most thoughtful or most orthogonal responses by reploting or quoplying.
I really want Farcaster /news /geopolitics /economics /america /uspolitics et al. to be environments where curators facilitate learning, debate and critical thinking by default. Not just gut reactions to headlines, mic-drop hot takes, and people talking past each other like you’d find on every other social network.

Imagine being on the 52nd floor, mid-workout, when an earthquake hits. That’s exactly what happened to Kwon Young-jun, a South Korean man in Bangkok. Exercising on the 52nd floor of Building C at Park Origin condominium during the March 28 earthquake, Kwon realized the connecting skybridge was breaking apart. In a split-second decision, he leapt across to Building B to reach his wife and child. Fortunately, they had already evacuated, and he joined them downstairs after descending 40 flights of stairs. The family escaped with minor injuries.
This harrowing experience underscores the unpredictable dangers of earthquakes, especially in high-rise buildings. It’s an important reminder of the importance of emergency preparedness and the extraordinary lengths to which individuals will go for their loved ones.

Haven’t been reading much mainstream US media lately; BBC has covered the current conflict in the DRC well over the last ~month.
Curious how much it has filtered through to the wider US audience?
