A humpback whale glides across the front of our boat just before sunset.
A super rare moment captured… the infamous “Thar she blows” is called out as a whale breaks the surface alongside the boat.

While often referred to as a whale’s spout, this is actually the high-speed exhalation of a humpback whale, and the spray you see is a result of the water that was on the whale’s blowhole being atomized due to the speed of the air being pushed out. This blow can be seen against Maui’s blue ocean water from a long distance, making it the best way to spot a whale swimming in Hawaii’s waters.
We stick with the Whale Wednesday theme with a spectacular capture from my step brother, one of my earliest friends in web3, @newlightvisuals!
ITAP of an epic whale breach while out with Pacific Whale Foundation... I like to joke that it took me over 100 whale watches to capture this shot, and I have the receipts to prove it.

The first whale of the season was spotted in Hawaii waters over the weekend, marking the beginning of a trickle migration that will peak between January 15th - February 15th.

Have a whale of a Wednesday!
A super rare wildlife sighting in NYC... while walking around the pond in Central Park on a nice summer afternoon, I realized someone was keeping an eye on me.
A Honu checking to see if he can take flight with his wings… or Oakley splashing water on his shell to cool off.
While photographing waves on Oahu's North Shore, I glanced to my left and saw this big old Honu hauling out... I don't know about you, but I got the impression that he thinks I'm in his spot?
ITAP of a monk seal pancake.

A photo as Sadie was hauling out from her favorite beach… froze the moment so it looks like she was whipping around to look at me.
A super rare moment when a sleepy seal is woken up by the setting sun and realizes an audience has gathered on the beach to watch her.
ITAP of a sky that felt like a double sunset, as the sun sank into a thick cloud layer just above the horizon.

I just scooped Fan Tokens from @xose... the auction may be closed, but you can grab yours below!

Just a teaser from last weekend in the Adirondacks… a tale of two trees. The first shot is just after sunrise, and the second is in the late afternoon. Which one do you like the most?
A super rare selfie of me with a 'stache, back from my Movember days. This is also from the hike we did down into Waipi'o Valley back in 2011 (just a few years ago), so the cliff in the distance may be familiar from yesterday's post.
Yesterday, I shared my photo from the top of this valley... today, here's a shot Annie took of me, lining the shot up.
Is this the biggest rose in the universe. @mustafa?
ITAP of @banthafodderdan and I on our recent photo walk... this is about the only kind of selfie I like to take.
Is anyone else having trouble with the Airstack site today? I purchased a fan token earlier today, and it was showing the buy price as 0.00 even after my purchase. I also noticed that his token wasn't showing up under my assets.

I figured maybe it would show up later, but now his buy price is blank, and my assets show that I don't have any fan tokens (though the sidebar shows: "Bought Fan Tokens: 28,415.90"

Am I the only one having this issue?
I just bought scooped up @banthafodderdan's Fan Tokens, after an epic 12+ mile hike around lower Manhattan earlier this week. Somehow, I got outbid at the last moment in the auction, but I've grabbed my tokens anyway!

A super rare perfectly clear day at the Big Island’s Waipi’o Valley, the other end of a rugged remote coast of Hawaii protected by 2000 foot high cliffs.

Vaulted by @mojomoby, and part of my Postcards from Hawaii collection. Wish you were here! (Link 👇🏼)
I’m planning to start editing my Adirondacks shots this weekend, but in the meantime, here is a beautiful fall foliage panoramic from @bay-photography!
Pololū Valley on the northern corner of the Big Island of Hawaii. Who has hiked down to the rocky beach and taken a swim here?
A super rare lava tongue breaking out between me and the ocean entry lava flow I was photographing… it was still more than 10 yards away, but what I didn’t realize at the time was how hot the ground beneath my boots was… melted the rubber feet of my tripod.
ITAP of a sign stating the obvious.
A throwback Thursday post to on of my first experiences with the Big Island's volcano... this massive steam plume is where the lava was reaching the ocean back in 2009. Just the beginning of my journey to exploring the Big Island and it's amazing active lava flows.
