i was 13 when i first fell in love with the idea of nyc. just told myself id be there before 25. ill turn 24 in nyc this year. at farcon. <3
ive had ok ok local exposure but,,
movies, sitcoms, the lore โ the idea of visiting always felt like a distant dream, but magic nevertheless. romanticised this one city most (followed by barcelona & rosario)

There should be a really great audio app built on top of Farcaster, there have been some good attempts but none of them have hit the mark imo, can be better than OG Clubhouse if done right

Big problem with Clubhouse was that they were trying to build their own graph (which is normal in web 2) and as a result couldn't focus on just nailing audio conversations (which naturally occur less than scrolling the feed โ and that's okay!)
Twitter Spaces (Clubhouse should've taken the $4b acquisition, feature not a bug, hindsight is 20/20) but I think they still leave a lot to be desired despite their reach with being integrated directly into X

"recasted 45m ago" is an interesting iteration although I can't think of a scenario where the context around when something was recasted would matter to me and it visually conflicts a bit with the cast's timestamp which I do care about in some cases

The shifts in how we socialize online over the past few years have been fascinating to watch. Some that stick out to me:
1. Public feeds โ private chats, raw thoughts often too risky to share on the timeline or sense that no one will see it unless it's engagement bait (have felt this shift the most on X, RIP Twitter)
2. Consume content solo โ DM to friends, often with little to no context, implicit "this made me think of you" or "I think you'd like this", sometimes they react or reply, maybe you talk about it later
3. Passively aware of what everyone is up to (curated version), whether they're a close friend or an influencer you follow, we know more about what people are doing but maybe less about how they're thinking or really feeling?
4. Algos everywhere, we swipe and scroll through feeds never knowing what comes next (friend? influencer? ad?), death of the follower (s/o Jack Conte), sometimes can't even remember who posted what
