An unpretentious place to talk about curating and exhibitions. Share what you're curating, best practices, challenges, your favourite exhibitions & more. Hosted by @benna & @omlet.
this is a thought a bit broader than curation, but i think it belongs here b/c this is the only place i think ppl might be curious about it.
i have been swallowing my distaste of & for the (vast) majority of (geometric) generative art for ages now.
i'm tired of it. not just b/c it isn't 'original'—most of it is nods to things from the 50s, recycled & then recycled again— but because it is context free. it says nothing about the moment & time & how we exist now. it is safe & pseudo-academic—hilarious, as we live in a time that hates academics & 'intellectuals'— & clean & empty.
its main statement is that it is math(s) using a computer.
you see the tool & not much else.
if there is a history—& future of curating these pieces beyond hyper-niche hedge funds & crypto bros—i think it will be as a juxtaposition to what comes after: art guided & created by & w/ai.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: MPHO JACOBS
“The barrier of visibility and respect as an African creative has been hard, but the emergence of organisations that advocate for African creatives has been important.” -MJ
Featured in SIXTEEN X NINE WHM 2025, Mpho is a South African artist bridging traditional painting with digital creation. Her work exemplifies how Web3 can transform careers for creators from historically underrepresented regions.
“My work is heavily inspired by those I don’t feel weee represented enough in media when I was young.” -MJ

April 27th I'll be doing a live a/v set with one my fav experimental musicians, Carol Genetti. Kind of a nice moment for me, as it's my first live performance in 3 years. I was feeling called to get back out there <3
My collab animated work with Cris War will be screened live in Chicago this afternoon alongside several other local artists working with video. There will be a discussion about the works after the screening.

It is with joy that I share my master's thesis in art (the full work is available to download in Portuguese at the links below):
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱: 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀
This research investigates how some works of contemporary art have related to food in a systemic way and how they contribute to the formation of a critical and poetic imaginary about food systems. The main works covered have in common that they were created by artist collectives or based on an artist's proposal and realized through a network of collaborators, often involving different publics.

My thoughts on 'L'art Dégénéré' at the Picasso Museum:
Overall, I liked it. The show even brought me to tears with the personal story of one artist, Otto Freundlich, who I didn't know of before, but who joined several anti-fascist movements and was sadly sent to the camps, where he was murdered. There were excerpts shared from his last letters that I found extremely moving. Spotlighting an individual story was important for putting into context the devastating realities a fascist regime has on individual lives.
The exhibition was otherwise largely a historical recounting of the Degenerate Art propaganda campaign set in motion by the Nazis. I was looking to see if there were any connections made with our current political climate. Unsurprisingly, there were none, but perhaps it's too dangerous and premature for a museum to make such a statement connecting fascism with contemporary politics today. Some curatorial choices that were extraneous, but over all well done!

Yesterday, I saw a very cool exhibition by Laure Prouvost, entitled We Felt a Star Dying. In the show, the artist explores quantum phenomena and their sensitivity to cosmic forces. She was invited to visit a lab where they are developing a quantum computer, and her installation is a poetic response to that. It’s fascinating how she imagines a possible future with qubits and super-fast computers, focusing much more on the sensations than on the scientific aspects of it.
It's finally here! 🎈

Really loved this side-by-side bringing together old and new, black and white, jewish and baptist.
Yet a story is told, on a relationship and shared view on racism in America.
Trenton Doyle Hancock and Philip Guston at The Jewish Museum 🤌
p.s. 'Schlep and Screw' is a great phrase lol

hi guys
thanks @benna for the invite
while the majority of my focus in the space is on the art side, im passionate about all things art / entertainment / culture.
exploring how to curate my interests under one roof and what it might look like. from my personal art collection, to things i see on the internet (and IRL), music, long form content, etc.
any good input or examples are welcome!

👀 I had no expectations before seeing The Coming World 2075 at GYRE GALLERY the other day.
🛜 The exhibition explores the future of AI and biotech and how they might reshape human life and our relationship with the environment. The narrative feels a bit overdone and generic, but it's accessible—maybe because the gallery is inside a mall.
⚡️A solid entry point for normies into the technological sublime.
Stop by if you’re in Harajuku. (Or not.)

Idk if I'll see a more important exhibition this year.
The Picasso Museum in Paris has just opened up a new exhibition, 'Degenerate Art: Modern Art Under Nazism'.
As I read from (exiled) German philosophers that wrote about art & politics during WWII (Brecht, Lukacs, Benajmin, Adorno, Bloch), and reflect upon what the aesthetics of 21st century fascism looks like, this show is going to be essential my research.
Will report back on the exhibition once I see it - hope it's good!
