very intrigued by this convincing argument for blockchain’s cultural impact.
we all feel that digital life / life online is fraught & fractured. in this essay, ludens briefly mentions that this is due to the fact that we have no ‘interobjective realities’ that ground us and unite us around common principles of what behaviours and entities we accept online. Autonomous Worlds (worlds with a blockchain substrate) are by definition open, transparent and built on consensus and thereby provide the interobjective foundation that we need.
but i wonder what that jump from theory & base tech stack to application layer looks like for culture? 🤔 i know some orgs are attempting this but are any of them convincing?

few here know this, because I don't post about my day job that much, but I actually worked on this event with one of our artists. we created the 3D busts of each artist that were exhibited on the LED screen in between and during sets, and on marketing materials on social media and around the venue. here's Post's bust from when i was at the concert!

In ‘Mechanial Kurds’ (2025) Steyerl documents the microlabour that goes into training AI models. Clickworkers in a Kurdish refugee camp categorise images by demarcating them in a ‘bounding box’ for just a couple of cents per image. The artist extends the bounding box off-screen in metal sculptures that implicate viewers into the work itself.
What these workers didn’t know is that they were labelling images for war drones that were then used against their own people.

just got back from the ‘Le Monde Selon l’IA’ (The World Through AI) exhibition at the Jeu de Paume and o my GOOOOOD!!!! what a show.
it sadly closed before i could see the whole thing but i’ll tell you rn it’s one of the best exhibitions i’ve seen in a while. i’m definitely going back.
