I often wonder if these digital tools are more of a detriment when learning the fundamentals. I have a close friend who teaches painting at a prestigious art school who tells me many of their younger students are adept with an ipad but lack proficiency with pencil and paper. What will we do when the power goes out!

was sorting through a pile of documents and came across a scrap of paper . i make shipping labels by hand and cut pieces of A4 paper for them . when i end up with excess and odd shapes i leave them in a stack and draw on them . i drew this last night . wishing you all a lovely saturday . ๐ค

since i am not at 'home' for the remainder of this month i don't have my daily drawing photo kit with me to show them as i prefer . nevertheless here are today and the previous two days . todays drawing evolved somewhat to represent a puffin bird .

i did not intend for it to be yet another abstract portrait . it just emerged from the way i was drawing it . what surprised me with this one in particular was how it communicated clearly to me that it was 'done' .
