tl;dr - Who can help me with a comparison of the environmental impact of sending $10 USD on Ethereum+L2 compared to Venmo, Paypal, Visa, Apple Pay?
Ok, I just called Dan. Spoke to him for 25 minutes and such an amazing human being. He also loved that there was no sales pitch but an attempt to deeply understand a problem we could solve for him by accepting USDC.
He's open to the idea, but there is one blocker -- the environment.
His business is very environmentally friendly, part of the ethos. He currently doesn't have enough information or data on if blockchains are environmentally friendly, and default position is they are not.
He said with more data to help him understand better, he will be the one of the fastest people to change his mind. Great attitude.

This is the other Dan in my life. Dan Waber runs Rainbow Tomatoes Garden, an offline organic tomato farm and online tinned fish emporium. Most of us in /sardines have bought fish from Dan at some point.
Dan hates credit card processors. He takes Zelle, Venmo, Apple Pay, Cash App, Paypal: basically anything but a credit card. I buy ~$250 of sardines every few months and use Venmo. He pays 1.9% + $0.10 for processing.
Next time I place an order, I want to pitch payments in USDC on Base. What is the best and simplest way for him to start? If I can send him one link, what should it be? It needs to be easier and cheaper than any of the options above.

I have 4 craft coffee shops. What if I accepted USDC/ETH on base at these cafes via coinbase commerce or whatever other POS systems might work, and we built out an implementation that sent a portion of the sale to a wallet set up for the coffee grower?

I've been using CBW for a long time for sending and receiving USDC on /base. I've just realized that I've NEVER held ETH in this wallet, yet it's been one of my favorite crypto UX experiences. Way to go CB, this is how we bring the masses to crypto! 🚀
Besides saving the troop on credit card transaction fees, this onchain experience prevents chargebacks.
But why does that matter? Because the troops shared that people purchase cookies with Venmo and then file a fraud case to claw back the money. 🤯
