Oct 15 is Degen Day 🎩
This past summer, I completely drained my savings, but it was worth it. I spent two weeks exploring with locals I met on ferry rides, got baptized, and spent over 2.5 months camping in my tent. In Alaska, my tent was wrecked by grizzly bears, and I brought home 400 pounds of salmon. I jumped into the Kenai River to save a drowning 10 year old and then taught him how to catch his first salmon.
I rode horses in Montana with a random 65 year old guy and went to a rodeo together. Got into a bar fight in Wyoming, broke two phones falling into rivers in Montana and Idaho, and even rode a bull in Arizona. I caught my personal best brown trout in Wyoming, laid on a beach in Yellowstone watching 7,000 shooting stars until 4 a.m., ate about 40 potatoes in Idaho, and drove 4,900 miles solo across the western U.S.

Late night thought 🤔
Every Sunday at brunch she asks me who’s dog tag I’m wearing with my cross and when I say it’s her late husbands she lights up smiling every single time. Then she tells me the story about how they met and went on a ski trip together back in the 1950’s.
And every Sunday I tell her the story of when I inherited his wallet, he had a slip of paper with her ring size, favorite perfume, flower, and every small detail about her. “He was such a great husband, you’re just like him except you can cook hahahah”
She’ll be 92 this week. If it were up to me I’d happily listen to these same stories every Sunday for the rest of my life. Have a good Sunday friends 🥂
