anyone have experience with transactions that cost a ton of gas, eg. 50M gas?

we're building on @base, which has a 60M target with a 120M cap. i was told that some infra providers or RPCs might have their own gas limits outside of these targets, has anyone hit these?
Fascinating write up by @izebel. Sharing a long post as a “gamblefi” builder for the past year 🧵

1. unsure token emissions can overcome insolvency

“the idea is the most EV time to bet is actually when its insolvent, as the token emission will be higher, with the expectation of reaching solvency again”

i think people would only play insolvent queues to earn tokens is if the token is illiquid (aka can’t be dumped right away, otherwise you get a negative flywheel effect) and has a means of value accrual (eg. revshare)…

but a token with both properties above are only valuable in practice if it has consistent fees to profit from…

this means this only works if the game has reliable, no/low-cost user acquisition for players and a house edge…

which is something that no online casino has cracked yet?

Robinhood gave away a free stock worth $2 and outperformed brokerages paying 10x more in signup bonuses

/megapot gives these superpowers to any app now. Get signups, incentive referrals, or reward any action with a $297,183 prize

check out Basepool by @chaps, a new provably fair onchain game! https://basepool.miniapps.zone/

i've always been a big fan and supporter of others making gambling fairer, more transparent, and with lower fees!

and solid job building with minikit too, eyeing that out ourselves... 👀
What a phenomenal write-up by @suffuze.eth on how and why /megapot is uniquely different!

Thanks for putting it in simpler terms that we could ourselves!

in case anyone else is interested about how to claim winnings or how our randomness is generated

great questions @suffuze.eth!

Most succinct way I've ever seen someone put it:

"When should a token be launched?

1. A daily active behavior exists
2. Retention curve flattens
3. The app has at least one repeatable economic action worth taking a cut on"

I'm surprised no one has focused on improving the App Store caption, graphics, and description

It's a pretty clear contrast, and I know which app I'd use at a glance

$1M TVL is nothing for a DeFi protocol

Yet a $1M jackpot is larger than most lotteries worldwide

The question is not "if" but "when" :)

Testimonial - thanks @ninasuthers for the inspo!

I asked my investors for their investment memo or a summary

Super helpful to see what resonated, how they explain the opportunity, their modeling on potential outcomes, and all the risks they outlined

Biggest quality of life improvement as a crypto founder is having Telegram chats default muted, with a few important ones unmuted

Then, set all unknown chats to be muted and archived by default

Went from being overwhelmed to ~~zen~~ overnight

Can’t swap USDC to ETH in Warpcast wallet

This is the new standard for how apps build on protocols. This team:

1. Reached out with a finished interface based on our docs, example repo, UI kit
2. Deployed a custom smart contract to redirect their app fees to users as cashback
3. Did all this without hopping on a call

This week I’m going to cast more
It took six long months

But someone finally won the $207,076.40 jackpot with a $1 ticket

LPs got rekt. But the protocol worked as expected - there’s a fresh $212,000 jackpot. What an insane day.

As a founder, I always remember who’s supported me from the start

Players, liquidity providers, and app integrators - thank you

I'm so excited to launch Megapot V2

While I'm proud of all the improvements, I wanted to answer the # 1 question I get asked:

"why are you building a gambling app when you can literally build anything else?" 🧵

hey @matthewb and @kenny, i'm happy to discuss how this is not a ponzi - we're trying to build the fairest way to speculate ever.

a ponzi has early users taking advantage of later users. with megapot, anyone can be a player, the house, or build an app.

i hate most memecoins, which are an uneven playing field where retail gets fleeced. here, the edge is mathematically constant and anyone can have the edge, not possible anywhere else.

a ponzi is about promised utility with no actual profits. megapot's utility is similar to one of the most popular activities in the world: a billion people played the lottery last year

crypto in general is full of scams, casinos take a large margin, and scratchers take even larger margins. you don’t have to condone gambling to want to improve it. it’s a noble goal to reduce consumer prices. that's why we're building this.

if you're saying that this is speculation, and you'd like less speculation in crypto, that's totally fine! but calling it a ponzi is unfair

what do people think of our user flow? are we overcomplicating it?

1. if you don't have a wallet, show credit card checkout only. built for normies.

2. if you have a wallet but don't have USDC on Base, we let you pay with any token on any chain, CEX, credit card. 1 click, no bridging or onramping required.

3. if you have a wallet and USDC on Base, just approve and pay; or switch chains if not on Base. least clicks for CT

someone asked about giving credit card options for those with USDC on Base: "I still might wanna buy with credit card if I only have a few USDC that I don’t wanna spend. it’s such a hassle to go buy new USDC, put it on chain, etc" do y'all have this need?
